Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve operations of Kindred Credit Union. This role, reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, helps the credit union accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of its risk management, control, and governance processes.

You are a CIA and/or CPA with a successful track record of audit experience and solid technical and organizational skills. Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve operations of Kindred Credit Union. This role, reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, helps the credit union accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of its risk management, control, and governance processes.
Key responsibilities
- Provides assurance services to evaluate the effectiveness of key controls for Head Office and Branch operations. Develops or updates audit plans for assigned areas included in the annual Internal Audit Plan, including more complex and higher risk processes. These may include audits of Credit Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Enterprise Risk Management, AML/ATF, Capital Management (including ICAAP and stress testing), Liquidity Risk Management (including swaps and securitization transactions), Information Technology (IT Security, IT Operations, IT Governance) and others.
- Reviews and analyzes findings, identifies issues and their root causes, considers risks and impacts, develops cost-effective and practical recommendations to strengthen internal controls or improve operational efficiency.
- Provides advisory services to evaluate the effectiveness of key controls for new initiatives, process changes and projects.
- Researches topics related to risk management, control, and governance processes (including cybersecurity) and assesses the adequacy of Kindred's practices.
- Provides input for new or updated company policies and procedures.
What to bring

Plus, you bring your qualifications and experience:
- Completion of a post-secondary degree in Finance, Business or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in Internal Audit
- Certified Internal Auditor and/or Chartered Professional Accountant designation is essential
- Specific expertise in IT audit is requested and preferred
- Experience in financial services is an asset
- Strong technical and interpersonal/communication skills are essential
