RESPONSIBILTIES
  • Responsible for EDIS and North and South Site Electrical Distribution budgets.
  • Manage department control systems, instrumentation systems, and analytical systems.
  • Serve as the asset owner for all electrical substations, electrical distribution equipment, custody transfer meters.
  • Leads and supports continuous improvement activities in EU (advanced process control, alarm management, OEE/technical availability, cost reduction, emerging technologies, process variability reduction).
  • Responsible for managing the unit's information systems: SCADA (EDIS), PIMS, LIMS and being the point of contact for operational technology (OT) compliance.
  • EU Point of contact with outside/3rd party utility providers regarding material/energy transfer metering, billing verification, maintenance (Power, natural gas, nitrogen).
  • Department lead for evaluating and implementing emerging technologies: wireless technology, IOT, drone technology, machine learning, AI, advanced process control (APC), etc.
  • Support management of change (MOC) efforts: creating and updating technical documents and specifications, ensure construction is mechanically complete and safe for start-up, certify that technical documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Monitor electrical and process control equipment health and condition, identify safety risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee the work of internal and external technical, maintenance, and engineering resources.
  • Identifies, evaluates, selects, and manages external contractors and engineering resources as needed for construction, maintenance, and engineering services.
  • Participate in on/off site vendor or technical training.
  • Identifies, monitors, and presents department Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Participate in after-hours work and on-call rotation according to department needs.


STRATEGIC FOCUS: (The focus desired and expected on the position over the next 1-3 years)
  • Manage and provide technical support for routine & preventative maintenance programs for process control systems.
  • Manage and provide technical support for troubleshooting and problem solving tasks during checkout, startup of projects, maintenance and customer problems on DCS and PLC's.
  • Manage and provide technical support to programs for installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and performance of preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, instrumentation and analytical equipment, following electrical code, manuals, procedures, schematic diagrams, P&ID's, equipment drawings, and other specifications.
  • Manage and continuously improve inspection protocols for automation technologies within department (including PM, calibrations, and routine maintenance).
  • Assist in the development/execution of an annual capital plan, use capex to achieve personal, department, and site goals.
  • Serve as project manager (PM) and project responsible (PR) on capital projects.


REQUIREMENTS
  • 2-year degree in a related field or High School Diploma with significant and related work experience (5+ years).
  • Significant experience with distributed control systems.
  • Experience with medium Voltage equipment and power distribution, up to 15k VAC.
  • Experience in motor protection, relay logic, and power quality and metering.
  • Experience specifying instrumentation, control valves, motors, electrical distribution equipment.
