ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Professionally represent GH Phipps and effectively support Company strategic initiatives

  • Cultivate new and existing business relationships by engaging in client pursuits, RFP's, and interviews; positively promote Company to external business partners and contacts
  • Establish and foster positive long-term relationships with all business partners including owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with new and existing clients; Provide client with accurate estimates and value engineering
  • Assume single responsibility for large, complex projects; assume overall responsibility for the
    preconstruction stage of each project
  • Identify tasks to be accomplished in order to satisfy contractual requirements
  • Ensures estimates, schedules, constructability reviews, value engineering efforts, cost report planning and purchase planning efforts and documents meet detail, schedule and quality requirements.
  • Provide overall Preconstruction effort oversight and show ability to lead a project team and project solutions
  • Manage estimating process through initial advertising/prequalification and solicitation of subcontractors, bid evaluation process and award
  • Effectively schedule complete Preconstruction effort including all estimate milestones, durations and identifying long lead items and other needs
  • Interfaces with Owner, Architect/Engineers and subcontractors to resolve technical matters during design or prebid, and provides engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.
  • Organize departmental team so that each estimator involved knows responsibilities and deadlines
  • Mentor/teach junior estimators all aspects of preconstruction process
  • Prepare estimates for all stages of design from Conceptual through Final Construction Documents (Design/Build, Guaranteed Maximum Price, and Hard Bid diversity)
  • Perform value engineering and life-cycle costing
  • Develop and write all bid packages and subcontractor scopes of work
  • Participate with the Project Manager in award of subcontracts and write all subcontracts before turning over to construction team
  • Demonstrate exceptional presentation and sales skills while serving on RFP/Interview teams

  • Other duties as assigned
  • Uses safety equipment as prescribed by company to ensure safety on jobsite
  • As a safety sensitive position, complete adherence to alcohol and drug use policies set by company
  • In-person, predictable attendance at assigned location


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent field

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of CM/GC commercial estimating experience required
  • Verifiable work references demonstrating exceptional accomplishments, leadership and communication skill


SKILLS

  • Solid computer skills; Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Proficient in use of estimating software
  • Able to read drawings and specifications
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction industry practices and standards
  • Knowledge of construction costs, project budgeting, vendor selection, client proposals and owner/architect/general contractor industry expertise.
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of post-offer background & drug screens


The salary range for this position is $98,000 - $115,000 annually and is dependent in experience and title/rank of position offered.
