Position: Product Specialist III
Location: Headquarters - Moon Township, PA

Hours of work: Mondays - Fridays, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 Hours/Week

The Product Specialist III (PS) is responsible for overseeing activated carbon products, alternate medias, and associated services lines offered by Calgon Carbon, for an assigned business segment in a specific region. The Product Specialist III must demonstrate internal and market-specific knowledge (assets, technologies, applications, channels to market, etc.).

The Product Specialist III has two main objectives:
1) Support the company in maximizing margin, profitability and growth on the assigned segment on a regional basis
2) Support the regional product range and associated specifications, documentation and inventory management activities

Compared to a level II, this role has additional responsibility with costing and pricing guidance, margin analysis, and greater ownership and involvement in product development.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
  • Task driven Commercial Support related to specific products & customers; Support Sales in developing and maintaining business by providing rational and cost-effective solutions that best utilize existing products and asset base
  • Liaise with our commercial teams to understand market needs, quality requirements and pricing positioning Offer bidding assistance for material selection and pricing determination, by advising of product availability or proposing alternative products, specifications and or supply options
  • Assist with costing and pricing guidance, from the direction of the Product Manager. Additional responsibility for a PS III will include margin analysis
  • Support product strategies, from the direction of the product manager, that include target market identification, competitive analysis, and value proposition development
  • Monitor and analyze product performance metrics, customer feedback, and market trends to make data-driven recommendations for product improvements
  • Continuously monitor and analyze competitors' products and strategies to identify opportunities and threats in the market
  • Assist with the required product certifications (NSF, WQA, AWWA). Rationalize creation of new product specifications vs standard products
  • With the supervision from the Product Manager, steer a direct pillar in product development
  • PS III will have greater ownership with regards to Product Development
  • Liaise between various departments, i.e manufacturing, commercial, procurement, and logistics, to communicate business line needs (material portfolio, market demand, product specifications, testing requirements, volume allocations, cost limits)
  • Understand manufacturing capabilities and cost levers
  • Assist Manufacturing in maintaining accurate product cost information, from the direction of the Product Manager

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from four-year college or university is required
  • 3-5 years of related business experience in a relevant market is required
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills is required
  • Related business experience in relevant market; strong interpersonal and negotiation skills is preferred
