Purpose
The Associate Director (Scotiabank's market equivalent of Vice President) will lead and execute a broad range of transactions across various industry sectors, as well as be responsible for coaching and developing our Analysts and Associates. The individual will contribute to the overall success of the team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Part of the job responsibilities will be to ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You'll Do
• Actively support the Managing Directors and Directors on mandates for key clients with a focus on ensuring strong execution, as well as coordinate with other areas of Scotiabank to deliver comprehensive financial advice and solutions for our clients
• Lead day-to-day execution of M&A transactions with limited senior management oversight;
• Coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders (clients, counterparties, legal and other advisors, etc.)
• Provide guidance to junior bankers on/develop content for client materials and presentations
• Manage workflow, including delegations of work appropriately to ensure completion of the work is efficient and timely
• Track market developments, trends and important transactions
• Train, mentor and coach junior bankers providing real-time positive and constructive feedback to support their development
• Actively partner with group leaders and broader team to build team dynamics and engagement across teams
• Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk
What You'll Bring
• 5+ years' work experience with a minimum of 3-4 years in Investment Banking and significant M&A transaction experience
• Bachelor's degree or or MBA
• Experience in managing teams
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with knowledge of corporate finance, accounting and the M&A process
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively interact with and communicate work product to senior professionals, clients and other key stakeholders
• A high level of attention to detail
• The ability to independently organize and manage junior bankers and deal teams as well as juggle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
• The ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines
• High professional standards including a strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork
• Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations
• A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn new concepts
• Business acumen, strategic/independent thinking and proven ability to make decisions
• Obtain and maintain required FINRA registration and licensing appropriate to your functions and responsibilities
