What is the Information Technology Equity Front Office group responsible for?
Partnering with a team of Software Engineers, you're responsible for delivering high quality applications for the Information Technology Equity Front Office group. This role will be involved in continued development of the Quant research framework as well as the other systems of differentiation utilized by the Equity Front Office Investment Team. It involves working closely with Investment Portfolio Managers and Analysts. This is a very business intensive role where it is imperative that the person understands the business context and drivers behind requirements and can adapt quickly to meet new requirements.

Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We expect the base salary for this position to range between $134,500 - $155,000 plus bonus opportunity.
This is a hybrid role requiring employees to be in the office two days per week.

What is the Senior Software Engineer - Equity responsible for?
- Work directly with end-users, business analysts, and others in Information Technology group to understand the detailed requirements of tactical and strategic business problems and implement solutions.
- Work with production support group to investigate and resolve production issues with applications and batches.
- Participate in researching and recommending "Buy versus Build" technology solutions (internal development versus vendor solutions and services), including cost and feature analysis.
- Provide advice on matters of software development and support across the organization.
- Work independently as well as thrive in a team-oriented environment.
What are the position requirements?
- Understanding of investment management industry and the effective use of technology to support Portfolio Managers, Traders, Operations, etc.
- Understanding of software development concepts and methodologies such as OO design, Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, etc.
- Train other IT team members on Equity business concepts and handle disaster recovery events.
- Multi-task varying business initiatives in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Ability to take requirements and design solutions that work in an already existing platform.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
- Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics strongly desired. Advanced degrees a plus.
- 5+ years of experience supporting front office operations in preferably an Asset Management/Hedge Fund firm.
- 6+ years of application development experience.
- Additional certifications in investment management/finance (i.e. CFA designation) a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills plus strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
What technology skills are critical to the success of this role?
- Experience in business analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of new and existing investment management applications and processes using the Microsoft .NET Framework, Visual Basic.NET or C# at an expert level including RESTful API interfaces.
- Must have experience with .NET Framework and database knowledge in SQL. AWS and Python experience preferred but not required.
- Experience using Python including to develop applications and server platforms.
- SQL Programming using Postgres (Aurora), SQL Server and Oracle - Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, etc.
- Experience developing software in AWS, using AWS services including AWS Lambda functions, API Gateway, and database services such as DynamoDB, Redshift and/or RDS
- Extensive experience working with large amounts of data, including time series data for Business Intelligence and Analytics.
- Proficient in Web front end tools and languages (such as JavaScript, JQuery, React, DevExpress).
