About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our company's financial and accounting operations and lead our accounting team of five. You will manage our financial risk, oversee budgeting and financial forecasting, implement and ensure compliance with accounting standards and processes, and conduct detailed financial analysis to inform our strategic decision-making. This is a critical role, requiring exceptional leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of financial management accounting to improve our operations for our next phase of growth. You will report to and act as a trusted advisor and partner to the Vice President of Finance.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our company's financial and accounting operations and lead our accounting team of five. You will manage our financial risk, oversee budgeting and financial forecasting, implement and ensure compliance with accounting standards and processes, and conduct detailed financial analysis to inform our strategic decision-making. This is a critical role, requiring exceptional leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of financial management accounting to improve our operations for our next phase of growth. You will report to and act as a trusted advisor and partner to the Vice President of Finance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the accounting department and controllership, overseeing all processes, systems, and people.
- Manage all aspects of accounting operations and policies, including accounts payable, general ledger, treasury, revenue recognition, and consolidation for multiple domestic and international legal entities.
- Collaborate with and project manage external auditors and tax advisors to ensure accurate financial reporting and proper compliance with all regulations.
- Ensure the timely preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with established procedures and US GAAP standards.
- Serve as an internal advisor to senior leaders across the organization, with a particular focus on the product, sales, and marketing teams.
- Partner cross-functionally with all departments to scale operations.
- Manage the ERP and tangential systems, improving integrations, automation, reporting, and controls.
- Advise the VP of Finance and other senior leaders on key management and operational matters to achieve targeted results while managing risks.
- Formalize accounting policies and create well-defined processes and systems to produce quality records.
- Draft and review technical accounting memos.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of corporate or public accounting experience with a minimum of 8 years experience in a corporate accounting management role
- Experience at a VC-backed or PE-backed company
- High proficiency and experience with Netsuite
- At least 3 years of experience managing a team in finance/accounting
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly technical organization; adept at working cross-functionally and building support across different stakeholders
- Strong written communication skills. Can distill complex subjects into clear and succinct memos or presentations
- Prior track record in building and managing a lean, high-caliber accounting team within a high-performance operating culture that supports the development and growth of our team
- BA or higher, preferably in Finance, or Accounting
- Big 4 experience preferred
- CPA license required
