POSITION SUMMARY

The People and Culture Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies to develop, retain, and engage employees while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. This role oversees key programs in training and development, performance management, employee wellness, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I). Additionally, this role provides strategic support to managers by offering resources and guidance to enhance team performance.

Training and Development

  • Design, develop and implement programs, procedures and strategies to address learning and development needs.
  • Collaborate with department leads to identify training needs and develop targeted programs.
  • Collaborate with enterprise teams to design and implement relevant training and development programs.
  • Oversee performance management and career development processes.
  • Coordinate with employees and managers to create and update professional development plans.
  • Assess training requirements for each position and work with employee/manager.
  • Recommend and evaluate external training resources and partnerships.
  • Facilitate training sessions on topics such as labour, employment, workplace harassment, performance management, and more, etc.
  • Evaluate and adjust programs to ensure alignment with organizational goals.


Employee Culture and Wellness Programs

  • Develop and manage wellness initiatives to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
  • Plan and deliver a range of employee engagement activities that support the culture and employee well-being.
  • Create communication materials and resources for wellness awareness.
  • Monitor participation and outcomes to continuously improve wellness programs.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance the rewards and recognition program.
  • Oversee the bi-annual employee survey and ensure action plans are implemented.


Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I)

  • Develop and execute DE&I strategies to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace.
  • Organize training sessions, workshops, and events to promote diversity and awareness.
  • Measure and report the effectiveness of DE&I programs and initiatives.
  • Participate on the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee with ACI.
  • Represent Alberici in community outreach, industry events, and local committees, and maintain relationships with industry and community leaders.
  • Provide support for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives .


HR Consulting

  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management, offering guidance and support on HR-related matters.
  • Address employee inquiries and concerns with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Stay updated on changes in employment and human rights legislation.


Management Responsibilities

Manages Sr. Human Resources Business Partner and internal/external program developers and instructors.

Education, Experience, and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field, with approximately 10 years of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or related field a plus.

In-depth knowledge and understanding of Ontario Labour and Employment Legislation, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Employment Equity Legislation.

Certificates, Licenses and Registration

CHRP/CHRL certification strongly recommended.
