Brown and Caldwell is looking for a senior level engineer to join our team within our Private Sector Business Unit (PSBU). The successful candidate will work on a broad spectrum of remediation, compliance and O&M projects ranging from environmental site assessments, remedial technology/alternatives evaluation, remedial design, remedy implementation and remediation/site closure projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting firm with multiple offices throughout the U.S. Candidate will work with and be mentored by strong, nationally recognized, senior technical staff on various projects. Our ideal candidate will have strong verbal/written communication skills and be a highly organized problem solver. The ideal candidate must be capable of, working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities. Some travel is required.

Detailed Description:

In this role you will work closely and interact directly with existing clients, while leading teams, providing project management and direction/mentoring to project level staff within our environmental practice. Office work may include preparing proposals, client discussions, project management, reviewing work products and providing feedback to junior staff on reports, work plans, permit applications, design drawings, engineering calculations and technical specifications.

Field work may include client meetings, kicking off projects, on-site check-ins with junior staff to provide direction and oversight for such projects as construction of remediation systems, demolition and other remedial technologies.

Additional responsibilities to include:

  • Work closely and interact directly with existing clients to advance project outcomes and develop new work.
  • Direct and mentor project teams on various remediation projects.
  • Manage projects through all phases or work, including planning, developing and designing remedial alternatives to full scale implementation.
  • Review and provide feedback to junior staff on technical specifications, design drawings, work plan, reports, construction submittal reviews, engineering calculations and other technical deliverables for remediation and environmental related projects.


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related) required; Master's preferred
  • Candidate should either have a P.E. or be willing/able to obtain P.E. in the near term
  • 10 - 15 years of related experience preferred
  • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually are essential
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to work well independently and in team environments
  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel for daily and short-term field assignments
  • Possess 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with current 8-hour refresher or have the ability to take and pass the training/physical
  • Must be willing to work in the field and able to perform physical work


Location A: $106,000- $145,000

Location B: $117,000- $160,000

Location C: $128,000 - $174,000
