Job Focus: To assist the Principal and the School Secretary with the duties of the school office.

Line of Supervision: Responsible to and evaluated by the building Principal.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides secretarial services to the Principal, and to the other staff members as directed by the Principal.
2. Answers telephones in a business-like manner, responding appropriately to all inquiries, and takes messages as needed.
3. Greets all visitors courteously; determines their need; makes appointments or directs them to the appropriate person.
4. Records and compiles daily student attendance information and notifies parent/guardian.
5. Completes all necessary forms, letters or reports, in proper form and on schedule as requested by the Principal or District Administrators.
6. Assists in seeing that any injured person is given first-aid.
7. Assists students in making phone calls to parents as approved by the Principal.
8. Prepares, assembles and/or disseminates materials about the availability of services for at risk students.
9. Brings to the attention of the Principal, any problem or concern, that relates to the office function, procedure, supplies, forms and or equipment, etc., in a timely fashion.
10. Guards the confidentiality of all information which may come through this office. Breach of this trust shall be grounds for dismissal.
11. Performs all other duties requested by the building Principal, Director of Instructional Services, or Superintendent of Schools.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or its equivalent.
2. Reasonable typing skills (minimum 40 words per minute).
3. Working knowledge of copiers, computers/software.
4. Ability to file information in a logical sequence and with a high degree of accuracy, so that if needed, it can be retrieved with speed and ease.
5. Be willing to service requests from people.
6. Like to be around children.
7. Be willing to take directions from supervisors.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 195 days per year. Salary and other benefits in accordance with the classified staff collective bargaining union agreement.
