As a senior ATR/CID research scientist, you will apply your skills to a wide variety of problems and datasets, primarily focused on Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) applications to include Electronic Support Measures (ESM), acoustic, Radio Frequency (RF), Electro-Optical (EO), and Infrared (IR) applications. Current projects include, but are not limited to detection, tracking, data fusion, and classification, including ground, surface, and air targets. Further topics include target identification using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery and Lidar/IR information. We are looking for a qualified candidate to bring leadership, entrepreneurship, and creativity to our programs. You will interact directly with customers, participate in, and lead technical projects areas, and spearhead growth in new areas. We are looking for someone to join our team onsite, although we offer flexibility to work from home part-time or have flexible in-office hours.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Serve as a technical leader of projects and programs
• Leverage understanding of technology stakeholder needs to facilitate growth and transition of industry leading technologies
• Proactively work closely with current and potential customers, contractors, and internal Leidos team members to anticipate future warfighter needs and then develop or recommend engineering solutions
• Develop and utilize signature modeling tools and user interfaces for real world applications
• Develop Automatic Target Recognition and Combat Identification (ATR/CID) solutions to classify images, discover and classify ESM data, or create efficiencies in other ATR/CID database processes
• Create innovative ISR solutions leveraging existing Leidos capabilities and tools
• Spearhead the development and delivery of technical presentations related to development activities at technical interchange meetings, symposiums, trade shows, and events

Basic Qualifications
• Master's degree or equivelant experience in a science related degree field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering Physics, etc.) with 15 - 20 years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate with 13 - 16 years of prior relevant experience
• Proven history of leading engineering teams with a track record of delivering results on contract
• Mission oriented with a strong ability contribute and communicate team goals to other staff members
• An interest in mentoring Jr. and Mid-level employees
• Proven ability to apply fusion techniques to improve ATR and CID performance
• Robust experience with monostatic and bi-static Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and/or Synthetic Aperture Lidar (SAL)
• Strong understanding of ground, surface, and air target identification principals and approaches using machine learning and/or artificial intelligence, pattern recognition and/or template matching, and other signal processing techniques
• A proficiency in computational electromagnetic prediction codes such as Xpatch, SENTRi, CST, Feko, etc.; and electromagnetic phenomenologies such as scattering, absorption, polarization, refraction, diffraction, etc.
• Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as AFSIM
• Existing understanding of intelligence community, NASIC/NSIC, AFRL or other tri-service and DARPA need
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
• Adept in Python and MATLAB
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work directly with customers
• Direct experience authoring and leading white-paper and proposal development efforts
• Proficient understanding of CAD modeling and meshing techniques

Preferred Qualifications:
• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Tracking, detection, and SAR image formation experience
• Sensor Open Systems Architecture and Open Mission Systems (SOSA/OMS) understanding
• An understanding of Electronic Warfare (EW) and/or Electronic Support Measures (ESM)
• An understanding of DoD test processes
• Object Oriented Programing experience such as C++

Pay Range: Pay Range $144,300.00 - $260,850.00
