Your Opportunity
Your role as a Mechanical Engineer on our Industrial Buildings team is to work independently or as part of a larger team on projects of varying complexity, and as a key contributor to a project through all phases of a project lifecycle. You are responsible for developing mechanical engineering deliverables with up-to-date engineering design tools and innovations in a variety of industrial sectors including manufacturing, food & bev, biofuels, waste-to-energy and agribusiness.

Your Opportunity
Your role as a Mechanical Engineer on our Industrial Buildings team is to work independently or as part of a larger team on projects of varying complexity, and as a key contributor to a project through all phases of a project lifecycle. You are responsible for developing mechanical engineering deliverables with up-to-date engineering design tools and innovations in a variety of industrial sectors including manufacturing, food & bev, biofuels, waste-to-energy and agribusiness.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for mechanical engineering deliverables on projects of varying complexity.
- Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all mechanical engineered systems for a project.
- Engages in the development of a design through PFDs, heat and mass balances, PP&IDs etc.
- Prepares and revises documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
- Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
- Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
- Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
- Participates in constructability review.
- Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.
- Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the mechanical group.
- Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.
- Assists with the development of proposal for smaller, less complex projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of the mechanical and/or plumbing codes, energy codes, ANSI and ASHRAE standards, and other building codes.
- Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of process mechanical systems, piping and equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, chillers, boilers and associated means, methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Strong knowledge and ability to develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and process, piping and instrumentation diagrams (PP&IDs).
- Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
- Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Strong understanding of industrial mechanical deliverables such as equipment lists, valve lists and line lists.
- Familiarity with piping specifications and isometrics.
- Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
- Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
- Strong presentation and interview skills.
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Experience with Newforma would be an asset.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Minimum of 7-8 years of experience.
