About the Role:Were on the hunt for a dedicated
Technical Advisor
with an advanced degree in
Chemistry
or relevant laboratory experience to join our clients
IP Prosecution team . Based in
San Francisco , this entry-level role involves supporting partners in patent prosecution, freedom to operate analysis, and due diligence work. If you have a strong scientific background and a passion for intellectual property, we want to meet you!
AM Law 100 Requirement:To be considered for this role, candidates must have recently worked at one of the
AM Law 100 firms . To verify if your firm qualifies, please check this

. Only candidates who have worked at these top firms will be considered for this opportunity.
Your Mission:Assess scientific literature, patents, and patent applications in areas such as
organic, synthetic, and medicinal chemistry .Provide detailed analysis comparing inventions with existing discoveries and patents.Compose
patent applications
that clearly define inventions, including a comprehensive background, description of features, and claims.Draft responses to patent application rejections from the
United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
and other global patent offices.Collaborate with colleagues and clients to
procure patent protection
and
build intellectual property portfolios .Present scientific concepts and discoveries to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.Perform
freedom to operate analysis
and participate in
due diligence
for clients cutting-edge technologies.
Core Competencies:Scientific Expertise : Strong knowledge in organic, synthetic, and medicinal chemistry, with the ability to analyze complex scientific data and provide clear, insightful opinions.Patent Prosecution Skills : Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications and drafting responses to patent office rejections.Communication & Collaboration : Ability to explain scientific concepts clearly to a variety of audiences and work effectively within a team environment.Attention to Detail & Organization : Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and maintain high attention to detail in scientific and patent analysis.
What You Bring:M.S. or Ph.D.
in
Chemistry
(or candidates who have defended their dissertation and are awaiting their degree to be conferred).Demonstrated knowledge in
organic chemistry, synthetic chemistry, medicinal chemistry,
and
pharmaceutical sciences .Strong
scientific writing ability
with experience analyzing and explaining abstract scientific concepts.Proven ability to present scientific concepts to diverse audiences, including both scientists and non-scientists.Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients in a
team-oriented environment .
