Driven by our expanding reputation as expertise-led consultancy leaders in Capital Markets, we are continuing to extend our global team.This is where you come in, to join our Leadership Team as Head of Securities Finance, based in London or NYC/Boston.This role will have full responsibility for our Securities Finance domain at Tonic, including but not limited to:Building our Sec Fin services, with expertise-led service offerings that meet our clients’ evolving needs, supported by thorough industry research (20%)Leading our Sec Fin business development and relationship managements (30%)Performing high-quality delivery engagements, typically in an advisory capacity (40%)Building our expertise-led Sec Fin team (10%)You will also play an integral role in the definition of future company strategy and direction, ensuring that we build out our internal capabilities in line.You will collaborate closely with the Tonic Co-Founders, other Domain Heads, Head of Client Management, Head of Americas and the rest of the Tonic team.Head of Securities Finance – Key ResponsibilitiesThe Tonic Head of Securities Finance will have multiple key responsibilities, described in more detail below.1. Build Our Sec Fin Service SuiteIndustry ResearchContinual market research across key Sec Finance domains and focus areas, covering Repo and Securities Lending, that will drive our clients’ service needsKey focus areas include, but are not limited to, regulations (x-jurisdictional), market developments and events, market vendors, best practice frameworks, and differences in buy-side vs sell-side focus areasIndustry outreach including attendance at key industry forums and working groups e.g. ISLA, ICMA, contribution to industry journal websites and events, and ongoing collaboration with Tonic clients (existing and target) and vendorsTonic Service Definition & ContentDefinition of Tonic Sec Finance service proposals, in line with client needs identified within industry researchCreation of Tonic service decks, thought leadership, website content, and LinkedIn contentRepresentation of Tonic on industry event panels, webinars and podcasts2. Lead our Sec Fin Business DevelopmentLeveraging of industry network for initial and ongoing sales opportunitiesIdentification of Tonic sales targets, across firms, divisions and individualsOngoing relationship management for stakeholders within existing and target clientsLead service proposals and bids for new workContribute towards creation of Client Statements of Work for contracted servicesBuild Partner RelationshipsUpfront and ongoing identification of vendors within the Sec Finance domain (Trading, Post-Trade, Custodians, Optimization & Analytics, Digital, Legal, etc)Relationship generation and building with target vendors, to establish sales referrals and joint opportunitiesRaise Tonic Industry ProfileRaising the profile of Tonic’s Sec Fin practice, via:Identification and attendance at key industry eventsIdentification of Tonic speaking opportunities i.e. industry panels, webinars, podcasts3. Perform High-Quality DeliveryPerform billable client delivery engagements, as Senior Tonic SMECreation of high-quality deliverables within Advisory client engagements including but not limited to:Industry benchmarkingIndustry surveysTraining materialsClient content materials e.g. sales & marketing, product guides, service onboarding guidesHealth Checks (accelerated current state analysis & recommendations)Perform quality assurance reviews of artefacts produced by other Tonic team members, to ensure Tonic’s high-quality standards are met4. Build our Sec Fin TeamRecruitmentIdentify Tonic resource needs for service proposals and client opportunitiesContribute to Tonic job specifications, alongside Talent LeadTake an active role in recruiting new consultantsTeam ManagementBuild a motivated and energetic Sec Fin team to perform high-quality delivery engagements, in line with client service needs, via:Management of growing pool of Tonic Sec Fin consultantsOverseeing Sec Fin team performance, including appraisals, performance reviews and developmentTraining & DevelopmentLead the ongoing development and growth of Tonic’s Sec Fin capabilities, via upskilling the of the wider Tonic team’s expertise and knowledge.Assess Tonic Sec Fin training needs and define Tonic Sec Fin training strategyCreate and present Sec Fin training frameworks across key sub-domainsAdditional TasksAny additional duties as they arise as part of company growth, to be agreed on an ad-hoc basis.Required Skills & ExperienceDomain20+ years’ dedicated experience within the Financial Services industry15+ years dedicated experience within the Securities Finance domain, across Repo and Securities Lending. Considered to be a Sec Fin SME/industry leaderExperience across a variety of different firms, including sell-side and buy-side (administrator experience is a plus)ContentAble to produce high-quality content and artefacts across:Tonic servicesThought leadershipTraining materialsClient content materials e.g. sales & marketing, product guides, service onboarding guidesProject documentation i.e. project plans, status updates, materials to accompany key stakeholder decisionsPrevious direct experience working in a sales and/or relationship management capacityTransformation5+ years dedicated experience within transformation, leading and supporting major change programs for technology/data infrastructure and solutionsProven business transformation specialist with experience of working in multiple transformation rolesExperience of rolling out best practice delivery frameworks across multiple organisationsGeneralConfident and strong communicator, with all levels and types of stakeholdersAbility to simultaneously work on multiple projectsAbility to diagnose potential problems quickly and define suitable solutionsTeam leadership, management, and delegation skillsStrong organisational skills and attention to detailStrong Microsoft Office application skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and/or equivalent planning tools)Direct consultancy experience, ideally within a big 4 firmExperience working within a smaller, growing organisationQualificationsA first level university degree, 2:1 (or equivalent)Relevant financial and transformation qualificationsWe are committed to providing fair employment opportunities to all our employees and applicants.
