This role leads the university’s digital media initiatives to include web design, development and use of the university’s content management system (CMS), email design and distribution, digital content development, and other forms of digital marketing in this fast-changing field. Responsibilities include leading the digital media team and designing, programming, updating and maintaining university websites and email communication, with a focus on user-centered design and achieving marketing conversion objectives; overseeing training and best practices for a network of individuals with content management system access; digital brand review and counsel; interactive content creation; and web analytics tracking, review and reporting. Is responsible for project assignment and management of digital work, as well as leading work with vendors such as defining project requirements, negotiating vendor contracts, and managing the digital budget as part of university purchasing process. In addition, serves as the primary liaison in collaboration efforts with IT Services.
This role requires regular in-person teamwork at our campus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify strategic web-based communication solutions to the marketing needs of the university as a whole and of individual departments.
Design and develop new or updated websites, using professional web design concepts and within brand standards and style guide.
Design and develop interactive features and/or content for websites, such as navigational elements, quizzes, etc.
Counsel and lead university partners in the representation of the Marquette brand platform in digital media, including overseeing training and best practices for a network of individuals with content management system access.
Lead digital project management, including proactive reporting and communication about digital teamwork for colleagues and partners. Serve as liaison regarding website projects and/or vendors to key university partners such as IT Services.
Responsible for the supervision of staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, terming, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc.
Direct vendor/freelance relationship, including identification of resources, evaluation, contract negotiations, budget and project management.
Lead resource planning and manage the digital team budget in support of digital media production.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, computer science or related degree.
A minimum of 7 years of experience with knowledge of digital marketing tactics across a broad set of digital media (websites, apps, e-communication, etc.).
Supervisory experience is required.
Strong writing and presentation skills.
High level of creativity.
Knowledge of best practices for web design and development.
Knowledge in project management, vendor identification and selection, and digital branding necessary.
Requires working knowledge of HTML 5.0, CSS, JQuery, Javascript, XSL/XML, Bootstrap, Google Analytics, Content Management System (CMS), Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Project management software, Broadcast email systems.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Master’s degree in communications, marketing, computer science or related degree.
Working knowledge of PHP, Figma, Modern Campus CMS, Slate CRM, FTP software, Social media applications, Web video delivery systems.
