Senior Instructional Designer.POSITION PURPOSEReporting to the Assistant Director of Integrated Learning, the Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for developing, maintaining, delivering, and supporting evaluation of online higher education courses and learning modules for early care and education faculty and providers from across the nation. This position requires independence and will be responsible for the production of instructional design materials, clear communication skills to provide updates and design ideas, updating of course content and technology, and collaboration with course design teams across the center.A successful candidate must be able to take the instructional design needs from several projects and apply best instructional design practices to help complete the projects. The candidate will bring good working knowledge of the production aspects of creating online courses and training, as well as an understanding of the higher education and professional development learning ecosystem. In addition, this position will design instruction that reflects an understanding of the diverse group of learners, adopt the Intentional Teaching Framework, collaborate to bring content from in-person to online delivery formats, and manage timelines.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInstructional Design and Content Production (100%)INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN (40%)Develop online courses and training following internal processes and standards.Produce instructional materials and interactions that account for diverse groups of learners, adult learning theory, and effective instructional design models.Curate existing e-learning interactive content to reflect project specifications.Aide in formatting content in the LMS for easy-to-use course navigation.Review for quality assurance to ensure courses do not have functionality or navigation issues.Apply current research and theory to instructional design of higher education courses and modules.As requested, design instruction that reflects an understanding of the diverse group of learners and adult learning theory.Collaborate with content experts to apply a variety of techniques in transforming from in-person courses and trainings to online and hybrid delivery formats.Ensure appropriate tools and resources are in place for course and module transformation and redevelopment.Ensure all online content meets accessibility standards.PRODUCTION (40%)Prepare instructional materials for deployment on learning management systems, ensuring consistency of style, design, and learner-centered focus.Collaborate with content experts and media team to apply a variety of techniques in transforming educational content into effective online learning experiences.Collaborate with project team to design learning experiences that support learning objectives and outcomes.Collaborate with course project manager to establish production timelines and report on progress.Collaborate with design and media teams to create animations and videos that support instruction.Collaborate with course developers, design team, and media team to prepare storyboards, design interactive media, and create interactive assessments.Manage against multiple competing priorities and deadlines ensuring all targets are met.Meet regularly with Director of Professional Learning and Coaching and Senior Director of Quality Recognition as requested to align programmatic vision with products.Manage quality assurance phase of online development.Develop documentation for students, faculty, and staff related to online courses.COMMUNICATIONS (20%)Participate in course design team meetings.As requested, participate in weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reporting for DCYF.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, Communications, or a related field.4+ years’ experience in the design, development, and deployment of online courses.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSWorking knowledge of e-learning authoring tools (such as Articulate, Captivate, and H5P).Experience working with academic learning management systems such as Canvas.Experience designing e-learning interactive content that supports adult learning principles.Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.Familiarity with FERPA compliance requirements and standards.Familiarity with Accessibility guidelines.Demonstrated commitment to working and learning in an anti-bias, anti-racist environment.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Highly organized with great attention to detail.Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as an individual contributor and member of multiple teams.Ability to take initiative, set priorities, handle multiple projects and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-driven environment in an organized and professional manner.Ability to think strategically, problem solve, and suggest creative solutions.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSBiliterate in English and Spanish with two or more years of experience in proofreading, writing, and translating educational materials for Spanish-speaking audiences.Application Process:
