Director of Operations
to organize and oversee its daily operations. This person will ensure that our business is well-coordinated and productive by managing its procedures and overseeing its staff.The area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires a thorough knowledge of various company processes. He/ She must be an excellent leader who can discover the most efficient ways to run CUGH and contribute to achieving its strategic objectives.This position’s goals include safeguarding and augmenting the efficiency of CUGH’s operations to support its mission, goals, growth, impact, and long-term success.ResponsibilitiesLiaise with the Executive Director to make decisions regarding operational activities and achieving CUGH’s strategic goalsPlan and monitor the day-to-day running of CUGH to ensure smooth progressLead finance, program, and IT teams and provide constructive feedback to themEvaluate regularly the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvementsManage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocationOversee efforts to enhance CUGH members’ satisfaction.Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to achieve CUGH’s financial health. Work with CUGH’s outsourced financing partners to provide monthly briefs to CUGH’s Finance Committee. Ensure and coordinate monthly calls with the Finance Committee to make certain all relevant people are informed of necessary financial outcomes and procedures.Provide accurate budgetary analysis to the Executive Director (ED) monthly to ensure that the ED has a full overview of progress against budget and control of program finances.Provide the ED with a monthly online update of current activitiesManage agreements and relationships with external vendorsManage funds from funders to the organization.Review proposal budgets and agreements. Ensure the implementation and maintenance of donor compliance for all financial aspects of any grantsQualifications
Requirements and skills7+ years’ experience as a director of operations or similar position with associations or a non-profit.Excellent project management skillsExperience in accounting and bookkeepingExperience using financial and management tools eg. MS Office 360, ERP, CRM, Member Clicks, Bill.com, Sage Intacct, Quick Books etc.An understanding of IT systemsStrong prioritization, problem-solving, and customer-service orientationExcellent organizational and leadership abilitiesOutstanding communication, team building, and people skillsKnowledge of the industry’s legal rules and guidelinesIn depth, knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. finance, customer service etc.)Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metricsBSc/BA in business administration or relevant field; MBA/ MSc/MA would be desirableThe DOO reports to the Executive DirectorFull-time, in-person position in Washington DC.Must be able to work in the US.Application instructions
