Job Summary:
Crooked Media is looking for an LA-based producer who would be responsible for entertainment and culture podcasts.
The ideal candidate is a podcast connoisseur and an experienced producer of live shows, with a background in late-night or live comedy production. You’ll have a passion for helping people understand national news and pop culture in creative ways, a significant track record of success, and experience managing a team. The candidate must have a clear understanding of the Crooked brand, exceptional skills in talent management, and basic audio production knowledge.
Crooked has adopted a hybrid work model for most staff. We know each role has different needs, and this role will be primarily based on-site in our Los Angeles office, with evening work required at least once per week, and 4-5 days of travel required at least once a month for 4-6 months out of the year often including weekends. We are ideally looking for Los Angeles based candidates, or candidates willing to relocate before the start date.
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
How You’ll Spend Your Time
:
Programming Production Supervision
Managing all creative ideation and execution including brainstorms, segment and formats, guests, skits, etc. for
Keep It ,
Lovett or Leave It: What a Weekday , along with
Lovett or Leave it ’s weekly live show and Saturday podcast release.
Working with the Executive Producer to manage host/talent and contributor relationships, developing talent and providing continuous feedback
Overseeing pre-production / production schedules as well as set run of show, week- over-week, from prep to actual show in an efficient and timely manner
Booking and scheduling of panelists and co-hosts
Supervising associate producers, editors, talent network management and production partners
Liaising with producers and editors on notes and edits for final cut for podcast distribution
Quality control over final show prior to release
Work with Sales to track and record ad reads on a timely basis
Liaising with our studio manager to book studio time based on needed locations
Collaborating with hosts on building episodes by providing segment ideas, creative, and technical support
Working with hosts and producers on arranging any necessary elements to complete episodes (i.e. research, video + visual assets)
Supporting marketing and PR efforts for show and ticket sales promotion on a weekly basis
Manage the time, assignments, and growth plans for at least one associate producer
Content Strategy Development & Promotion
Track and understand trends in news and pop culture content to incorporate into show development
Produce pilots with new talent and partners
Coordinate cross-departmental efforts to build, and publicize our programming through video, social, design and marketing efforts
Work with other departments to better understand audience trends and adjust content and priorities accordingly
Communicate promotion strategy to hosts/talent and align with Crooked social and digital content teams
Work with Sales and Marketing to identify ways to increase revenue opportunities for the show
Provide live events and other experiential events to drive fan engagement.
What You’ll Bring To The Table
:
5+ years of live comedy, live podcast, or live TV production experience
2+ years of managerial experience
Strong communication and organization skills
Strong editorial judgement about entertainment and pop culture that matters and creativity in how to cover it
A passion and day-to-day interest national news, pop culture, and social issues
Understanding of journalism and journalistic ethics
Ability to juggle multiple projects at once and work under pressure
A self-motivated, proactive, scrappy, creative, accountable and nice attitude

And for this role, the starting salary is $100,000.
