As a Technical Project Manager at Story Cannabis, you will lead and oversee technology-driven projects that are integral to the expansion and optimization of our national cannabis operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, and retail. Your role will ensure the successful delivery of technology initiatives aligned with the unique needs of the cannabis industry, focusing on regulatory compliance, supply chain efficiency, and customer-facing digital solutions.

You will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects related to infrastructure, software development, compliance systems, and business analytics. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, industry knowledge, and strong project management skills to manage complex, multi-state operations and fast-paced technology integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Execution: Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for key technology initiatives across cultivation, retail, and distribution. Work with technical teams to design and implement solutions that meet both operational and compliance requirements. Lead projects that involve point-of-sale (POS) systems, ERP integrations, cultivation technology, and track-and-trace systems. 2. Stakeholder Collaboration:

Partner with internal stakeholders across departments (cultivation, processing, retail) to define project objectives and requirements. Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure all technical solutions adhere to state and federal cannabis regulations, including METRC integrations. Communicate project updates and progress to executives, ensuring alignment with company goals. 3. Technical Leadership:

Provide guidance on infrastructure improvements, software development, and technology adoption that streamline cannabis business operations. Oversee the implementation of systems that manage product tracking from seed to sale, ensuring security and regulatory compliance. Manage third-party vendors and consultants to ensure the successful delivery of technology solutions. 4. Compliance and Security:

Ensure that all technical projects comply with cannabis industry regulations, including data privacy, product tracking, and security standards. Partner with legal and compliance teams to integrate tracking software (e.g., METRC) with internal systems. Lead the deployment of cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data related to cannabis operations. 5. Agile and Cross-functional Team Management:

Lead cross-functional teams in agile or hybrid methodologies, facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Coordinate with teams in IT, production, compliance, and retail to ensure seamless project delivery and integration across departments. Provide mentorship and leadership to project teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. 6. Risk Management and Problem-Solving:

Proactively identify risks and challenges specific to the cannabis industry, such as regulatory shifts, supply chain disruptions, or technology failures. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, keeping projects on track in a highly regulated and evolving industry. 7. Budget and Resource Management:

Manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery of technology solutions. Allocate resources efficiently, balancing in-house teams and external vendors to optimize project outcomes. 8. System and Infrastructure Development:

Manage the implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, POS systems, and other critical business technologies. Oversee projects aimed at improving cultivation and manufacturing technologies, from automation to inventory tracking. 9. Vendor and Contract Management :

Work with third-party technology vendors and service providers to integrate software and systems across the supply chain and retail operations. Evaluate and negotiate contracts, ensuring that vendor relationships align with company goals and compliance needs. 10. Data and Analytics:

Implement data management and analytics solutions that support real-time decision-making for cultivation, distribution, and retail. Oversee the development of dashboards and reporting systems that provide insights into operational performance, product quality, and market trends. Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. PMP or Agile certifications are a plus.

Experience:

5+ years of technical project management experience, with at least 2 years in highly regulated industries (cannabis, pharmaceuticals, food, or similar).

Skills:

Proven ability to manage complex, multi-state projects with cross-functional teams. Strong knowledge of the cannabis industry's unique regulatory and operational challenges. Experience with ERP systems, track-and-trace software (e.g., METRC), and point-of-sale (POS) systems. Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation. Preferred:

Experience in cannabis industry technology projects or other highly regulated industries. Familiarity with state and federal cannabis regulations and compliance requirements. Understanding of supply chain management in the cannabis industry, including cultivation and retail operations.
