About The Position

Directs and oversees the company's labor relations programs, policies, and procedures. Establishes and maintains productive labor-management relations, interprets the collective bargaining agreements, administers grievance procedures including arbitrations, and advises all levels of management on labor matters. In addition, this position is responsible for Ameren Missouri’s Absence Management program. Included in this area of responsibility is oversight of the administrative staff.

Key responsibilities include:

Manage and direct a labor relations team that is responsible for working daily with internal customers and union teams.

Serve as the Chief negotiator in contract negotiations with Ameren Missouri’s collective bargaining representatives.

Advise and work with Human Resources, Legal, executives, officers, directors, managers and supervisors of union employees to ensure compliance with the contract and alignment with strategy.

Administer Missouri’s labor agreements in conjunction with Ameren policies to ensure consistent and effective compliance, provide counsel on labor matters including contract interpretations, grievances, disciplinary actions, and arbitrations.

Responsible for developing strategic labor direction for Ameren Missouri.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Union Leadership from Ameren Missouri’s five Local Unions.

Oversee and work in conjunction with Security and Human Resources as the Labor Relations lead on investigations of misconduct, corporate compliance, equal employment opportunities and workplace violence.

Oversee Ameren Missouri’s Absence Management program; ensure compliance and administer a consistent approach across Ameren Missouri.

Provide support for storm restoration efforts, as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required.

A Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.

A Juris Doctor Degree is preferred.

10 or more years of progressively responsible and relevant experience required.

5 or more years of supervisory and/or high-level team/project leadership experience required.

Significant first chair bargaining experience preferably in the utility industry preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices of progressive labor relations, and all local, state and federal regulations as relates to labor relations including working knowledge and interpretation of the National Labor Relations Act.

Ability to lead through persuasion and influence others in stressful situations and to earn the respect of business partners.

Ability to compile and analyze business data for purpose of formulating labor strategies and managing cost impact of proposals/settlement to business.

Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.

Additional Information:

The Director, Labor Relations is a hybrid role with the ability to flex work time between office and home environment.
