We are headquartered in Berkeley, CA with a fully remote and distributed team across multiple states.Job OverviewThe Senior Manager, Human Resources provides expertise, strategic consultation, and solutions to leaders on all Human Resources (HR) aspects of the business including compliance with federal and state labor laws and regulations, administration of company policies, employee engagement and experience, talent management, workforce planning, hiring, and benefits management. This position will report to the Director, Operations and will manage the Analyst, People Operations . This individual will champion Intrepid Ascent’s core values of integrity, creativity, humility, growth, and community in all aspects of their work. Note that this position requires occasional travel to company events.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesHR ComplianceOversee, monitor, and iteratively improve HR operations, processes, and policies to align with national and state best practices, with input from legal counselManage Intrepid’s Employee Handbook and related documentation and monitor adherence to company policies; ensure completion of required trainings by staffServe as a subject matter expert, handling sensitive employee inquiries, triaging personnel issues, developing action plans to address them, and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of communicationPeople OperationsOversee and manage Intrepid’s approach to the employee lifecycle: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, tenure, retention strategies, and exitsEstablish a workforce plan and a talent acquisition process in alignment with company growth goalsImprove People Operations processes for efficiency, productivity, and employee satisfaction such as open enrollment and benefits management, recruiting, hiring, on and off-boarding, etc.Employee Experience and GrowthDesign and implement employee development programs and maintain a framework for employee advancement within the organizationManage the bi-annual performance review process for all staffTrain people managers to effectively support their direct reports for improved performance and progressive responsibilityDevelop initiatives for employee engagement and teamwork across the organization, including through the management of staff events such as in-person gatheringsAlign employee experience, and the ways Intrepid teams work together, with company culture and valuesCreate methods for feedback and evaluation of company culture and ways to improve and strengthen positive cultural practicesCompensation and BenefitsManage Intrepid Ascent’s compensation and benefits program, including market analysis, pay equity compliance, and overall compensation philosophyEducate people managers and employees on our pay practicesWith guidance from the Director, Operations , develop and propose a staff compensation budget during the annual planning processQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Human Resources (or similar) or with HR Certification (APRH, PHR, SHRM)8+ years of relevant work experience including Human Resources or People Operations (or similar)Experience and proficiency with HRIS systems and sensitive dataThorough understanding of HR functions, best practices, and legal compliance requirements (including wage-and-hour, leave of absence, equal pay, FEHA/Title VII, ADA, and EEO compliance) at the federal and state level, especially CaliforniaAbility to focus on the details, while being mindful of the big pictureJudgment, discretion, and the ability to keep and enforce professional boundariesExcellent listening, teaching, written, and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsMeticulous attention to detailDemonstrated experience shaping a strong company cultureExperience with business productivity and communications software and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Qualtrics, Slack, Box)Who you will work withYou will be a key member of the Operations Team and part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary teamYou will work closely with people managers and senior leadershipThis position reports to the Director, OperationsThis position will manage the Analyst, People OperationsWhy we think you will love working hereYou will be part of a stellar team doing exciting work that makes a positive impact;Our company combines a strong culture of collaboration and mutual support with high expectations; we celebrate each other’s accomplishments!You want to work with a great team and have the skills to be a trusted colleague who embraces challenges, learns from mistakes, and grows with our company.Benefits include competitive pay, 401K, medical, dental, vision & life insurance for employees and their dependents covered at 100%, medical and dependent care Flexible Savings Accounts (FSAs).In addition, we offer flexible time off and are committed to work-life balance, flexibility in getting work done, and respecting and valuing the life you want to live;Stipends for home office expenses;We are dedicated to your growth and career development in the form of training, coaching, and mentoring, and cultivating your confidence and knowledge;The salary band for this position is $115,000-$140,000.To apply, please submit a cover letter and resume.
