This position will be responsible for counseling the company on legal risk and representing its interests in litigation, primarily focusing on loan default, foreclosures, eviction, and other related matters relating to Single Family and Multifamily loans and properties. The Litigation Department is committed to providing quality, proactive and timely advice and representation responsive to client needs on a variety of matters affecting Freddie Mac.This role will report to the Litigation and Asset Resolution (LAR) group within the Litigation Department, which includes the following subject areas:Single Family LAR: Manages external law firms and provides default-and REO-related legal services involving Freddie Mac-owned or guaranteed single family mortgages (foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction title, closing and loss mitigation matters), related non-routine litigation, and REO personal injury matters.

Multifamily LAR: Handles matters related to Multifamily loan defaults, distressed asset litigation, foreclosures, workout, and REO matters.

Bankruptcy/Insolvency: Represents the Corporation in Seller/Servicer and other bankruptcies and related litigation and provides strategic advice in a wide range of creditors' rights enforcement scenarios.

Your Impact:

In your role as an attorney on the Litigation & Asset Resolution Team, you will:Actively manage outside counsel and drive case strategy.

Work closely with servicers and local law firms to develop and implement legal strategy in litigation.

Advise and partner with internal clients on litigation issues impacting Freddie Mac.

Represent Freddie Mac in federal and state courts, administrative actions, and similar proceedings.

Conduct legal research as needed.

Support internal and external reporting requirements.

Review and/or draft settlement agreements and other documents.

Respond to third-party subpoenas and government requests for information and documents.

Understand Freddie Mac’s business, particularly its Single-Family and Multifamily Seller/Servicer Guides (including knowledge of the representations, warranties, covenants and legal remedies) and other contracts, as needed.

The role may include responsibility for litigation relating to Freddie Mac Multifamily assets (subject to experience and need).

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree

Membership in good standing in a state Bar

Typically 7+ years relevant litigation experience with a top tier law firm or in-house at a bank, financial or other institution with a sophisticated real estate and investment portfolio

Significant experience with all aspects of litigation

Expertise in SF loss mitigation, foreclosures, REO, code violations, title, and eviction matters and understanding of SF mortgage issues, including loan/default/REO-related issues

Familiarity with consumer bankruptcy issues

Significant experience counseling senior business clients on a wide variety of litigation and legal risk issues

Ability to effectively/proactively handle a high volume of cases using an automated legal management system

Strong oral and written communications and analytical skills

Familiarity with Freddie Mac’s Non-Performing Loan and/or HomeSteps business areas

site.This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $170,000 - $254,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.#J-18808-Ljbffr
