DescriptionPosition: Project DesignerReports To: Senior Project DesignerClassification: ExemptDate of Revision: 2/2022SummaryProject Designer- Works independently on all phases of architecture projects with a particular aptitude in design. Performs a variety of project assignments requiring skills in all conventional aspects of architectural design for projects of moderate to large size and complexity. Advances architectural concepts and design solutions in alignment with client's design intent and project concept vision.Essential Functions :Responsible to develop conceptual design alternatives under limited guidance from the Senior Project DesignerFoster design excellence in assigned projects, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best align with client's design goals and visionEvaluates and integrates collected research, ideas, data, and concepts. Leads team in organization and development of conceptual framework for the projectPerform analyses of existing conditions related to design, planning, occupancy studies, and design layoutsReview program and scope definitionProvides direction to consultants regarding coordination and refinement of critical areas of designInitiates and coordinates meetings with client, project team, consultants, and contractors to ensure collaboration and communication.Provide oversight, and review planning of construction documents and design documents to ensure appropriate integration and representation of project design concepts, goals, and objectivesReviews project reports, estimates, calculations, and specifications with specific focus on implications and representation for critical areas of designMay perform construction administration duties, such as site visits, RFI responses, submittal reviews, and punch list reviews related to critical areas of designReview of finished plans and coordination of specifications related to critical areas of design. Selection and approval of exterior materials paletteOrganizes and facilitates design team’s work, ideation and charrette sessionsCompetencies:Strong conceptual design and schematic design skillsStrong analytical approach with excellent problem-solving skillsPossess quality graphic composition and layout skillsProficiency in Revit required. General understanding of AutoCAD helpfulProficiency in Adobe Creative Suites required (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)Proficiency in Sketchup and/or Rhino required. Rendering in Lumion, Enscape, and V-Ray is requiredWorking knowledge of zoning and building codes, specifications, building/engineering systems, and agency requirements (NPFA, ADAAG, FGI, OBC, IBC, etc)Possess a balanced blend of design and technical skillsStrong knowledge of the design process, and development of contract documentation. Familiar with practices and methods of the construction administration processProficient verbal and written communication skillsCompletes assignments for scheduled deadlines while working within the project budgetProficient organizational and client presentation skillsCommitted to provide high quality client servicePossess a collaborative and professional work ethicCertification RequirementsArchitecture License preferredSupervisory RequirementsMay provide supervision for project associates or internsWork EnvironmentThis position operates in a professional open office environment with low to moderate noise levels including collaborative work areas for team meetings. Each office provides collaborative work areas and shared resources such as video conferencing, printing/scanning, and a café for dining.
