The Payroll Administrator II is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities associated with the Payroll Department and ensuring that weekly payroll is processed timely and accurately

Primary Responsibilities

Payroll

Processes Payroll for 6 multi-state companies / 500-600 Employees

Audits automated and manual timecards for payroll processing

Exports and imports timecard information from timecard software into payroll software

Calculate hours, tax withholdings, deductions, bonuses, and union fringes

Completes Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly Payroll Reporting

Be cross trained as a backup to process weekly payroll and other payroll related items

Creates and processes electronic payroll files for submission to generate direct deposits and payroll checks

Posts and monitors child support payments and wage garnishments for employees

Reviews and enters labor allocations reported on timecards

Prepares termination and check adjustments

Handles employee’s inquiries regarding payroll checks or deductions on their paychecks

Coordinate with the HR department to ensure the correct employee data is on file

Process monthly union fringe reports for payment

Other duties as assigned

Compliance

Supports the department with the developing, receiving, reviewing, and processing information for a variety of departmental, State, and Federal mandated, and statistical reports and records; verifies accuracy and completion of reports and records; maintains accurate record

Coordinates year-end processes

Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Understanding of union/non-union and prevailing wage payroll.

Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem solving

Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines

Current knowledge of applicable federal and state wage and hour laws and taxation

Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment

Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Display superior written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills

Maintain a tactful, mature, and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel

Education and Experience

Previous payroll experience with multi-state particularly in CA, multi- company high volume environment with a medium to large size company

A minimum of 5 years’ Union/Prevailing Wage payroll experience in a leadership role.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting preferred

Certified Payroll Professional Preferred

High Volume environment

Experience with Microsoft software such as Word, and Excel
