The Transitional Day Program (TDP) is a drop-in center for homeless youth 18-24 years old in Boston. Youth utilizing the TDP are typically sleeping outside, staying in emergency shelters or couch surfing. The TDP offers survival services (food, showers, laundry, & clothing) as well as intensive case management and support services to help youth move beyond the streets into safe and stable housing. The TDP Counselor is responsible for overseeing the program milieu, building therapeutic rapport with youth and providing case management services.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSSupervision of the program Milieu / Drop-in,

.Administer/coordinate program
participants
basic needs and survival services; including breakfast, lunch, showers, laundry, computer games, field trips, outings, and physical exercise.Provide
and
facilitate
skills-building group activities and workshops
.Manage i
ntensive case management; including initiating referrals, as needed
.Connect
program participants
with opportunities to engage services; including education, employment, housing, mental healthcare, and substance abuse service.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSComfort and confidence working in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.Enthusiastic about working with homeless transitional youth population.Ability to
identify
and execute effective problem-solving strategies. Must
possess
sound crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.Ability to develop and
maintain
professional working relationships with residents, staff, co-workers, and supervisor.Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultural groups.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE2 or more years of experience working with youth ages 18-24 in one or more of the following areas: housing management, job development, community relations, substance abuse or recreational counseling.Bachelor's degree in human services, Social Work, or any related degree is required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSRequired to be able to stand,
walk
and sit.Able to routinely lift, carry and move materials weighing 25 pounds.
COMPENSATIONThe hourly rate for this role is set at $
20.00
