We are in search of a new member of our Supply Chain team who is looking for a stable and productive work environment with emphasis on long term employment. The role is a good balance between tactical daily activities and supplier management. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in managing demand vs. supply with an innate passion to support Operations. The position requires someone who is self-motivated and capable of prioritizing several simultaneous activities while dealing with a time sensitive environment. They are as comfortable in front of a computer as they are working directly with suppliers and internal resources. The successful applicant will play a critical role in the success of the Operation from a Materials perspective. The Buyer reports to the Supply Chain Manager with this opportunity in Tempe, AZ.

Requirements:

RESPONSIBILITIES:The Buyer will successfully execute the purchase of goods and services in support of Operational needs and aligned with Supply Chain Management policies and proceduresAct as a point of contact between various company departments (e.g., Quality, Operations, Engineering, Accounting, Materials, etc.) and suppliers as requiredSupport effective communications with suppliers in terms of quality, delivery, cost, lead-times, and serviceMaintain accurate and complete supplier information and recordsSupports Engineering requests, Non-standard buys, and MRO requirements as neededSupport various Vendor Managed Inventory program tactical activitiesReview and recommend appropriate stock levels for purchased materialsIdentify and recommend methods for improving supplier communications, supplier performance, purchasing processes, reduction of waste, and other direct and indirect improvementsPreparation, issuance, and initial evaluation of Request for Quotations (RFQ's) for a wide range of commoditiesThe Buyer will assume other responsibilities as assignedREQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and negotiation skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailMust have strong time management skillsERP Operating Systems experience with working knowledge of MRPStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with good judgmentProficient in Microsoft Office Suite with above average Excel skillsAbility to compile information, analyze, and make decisionsMust be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentGood attitude and resilient personality equipped to deal with typical challenges found in manufacturingMEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:The Buyer is deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following is accomplished:All needs for purchased materials are met in order to satisfy internal departments and customer delivery datesEffective communication with suppliers to obtain best possible pricing, quality, and delivery of materialsIssues are escalated both at supplier and internally to minimize impact to OperationsAll supplier records are maintained in an orderly and accurate mannerKPI information is updated and posted as requiredREQUIREMENTS:At least three years of Supply Chain Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment requiredBachelor's degree in Supply Chain or Business or equivalent experienceDrug tests will be performed on all final candidates.WORKING CONDITIONS:The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires proper safety and security precautions.Appropriate eyewear and footwear will be necessary when accessing the production floor.Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.The above job description is not intended to be, nor should it be construed as, an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with this job.BENEFITS:Stable and supportive workplace with a solid team of long-time employeesComprehensive benefits package available after 30 days of employment, including; Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability401k with company match eligible after 90 days of employmentPaid holidays, personal time, and vacations available per company policy
