Job DescriptionDirects activities of the vessel and is responsible for operation, maintenance, safety, personnel, and production and allocates resources in order to accomplish these goals.

Essential Job FunctionsCoordinate movement of dredge to job sites and dry dockingsEnsure that personnel aboard the dredge are properly trained and supervised in their respective dutiesCompletes and submits daily, weekly and monthly reports to Operations Manager including personal and property accident reportsPrepare and submit weekly payroll time sheetsRequisition parts and supplies as needed to maintain inventoryConduct weekly safety meetings and fire and boat drillsComplete Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and or Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA)Responsible for maintenance and inspection of safety, firefighting and lifesaving equipmentCoordinate dredge operations with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers inspector and other officials who frequent the dredge during operationsParticipate in inspections of the dredge performed by various government agencies such as United States Coast Guard (U.S.C.G), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE)Research and discuss with the Project Engineer, dredging strategies to maximize productionFollows company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” work environmentSupervisory ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervises Chief Engineer, Deck Captain, Assistant Chief Engineer and Chief Cook. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
