The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Stony Brook Children's Hospital and the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is seeking to hire a full time, general pediatric cardiologist at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor to join our growing Division of Pediatric Cardiology. Stony Brook Children's is part of a large academic medical center located on the north shore of Long Island, New York, and is approximately 50 miles east of New York City.Stony Brook Children's Division of Pediatric Cardiology offers the highest level of care for children and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease from infancy through adulthood. The practice includes specialty programs including the Fetal Heart Program, Coordinated Fetal Care Program and a Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Center of Excellence. In addition, the Division is part of a multi-disciplinary care team focused on preventive cardiology and combating childhood obesity.The successful candidate will be responsible for inpatient consults at Stony Brook Children's Hospital, the only children's hospital in Suffolk County. Stony Brook Children's is comprised of a 12 bed-PICU, 104 pediatric beds, a 46 bed NICU with individual rooms and a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department.The successful candidate will join a busy outpatient practice providing cardiology care to the nearly 500,000 pediatric patients of Suffolk County. Outpatient consultations are performed at satellite offices throughout Suffolk County. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in performing fetal echocardiography. Additional clinical responsibilities include interpretation of transthoracic echocardiograms, fetal echocardiograms, exercise stress tests, Holter monitoring and EKGs.Applicants require an MD/DO degree, must be board certified in Pediatrics, board certified/eligible in pediatric cardiology and eligible for New York State licensure. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in research and graduate medical education.Responsibilities and Requirements :As an academic institution, this position requires a significant commitment to teaching across the undergraduate to graduate medical education spectrum. Interest in research, scholarship and quality improvement initiatives are highly encouraged.The medical school environment and prestigious Health Sciences Center provide an excellent opportunity for Clinical and Basic Science Research for candidates pursuing an academic career. Competitive seed money support within the Department exists for junior investigators or mid-career investigators pursuing new directions.
