TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist Mentor

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB FUNCTION: Provide assistance and professional growth to new speech therapists, including training, mentoring, and coaching in the use of Infinite Campus, completion of IEPs, completion of evaluations, completion of referrals, and best practices to improve student progress and maintain a safe, caring, and orderly learning environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Mentors new speech therapists in order to assure compliance with established state and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures.Mentors new speech therapists in order to ensure compliance with evaluation standards and determine eligibility for services based on the Kentucky Eligibility Guidelines for Communication Disorders.Models effective communication of test results, diagnosis and proposed treatment plans to the Admissions and Release Committee.Assists in preparation of written evaluations and maintenance of records which clearly and succinctly document services provided, student progress and discharge from therapy as recommended to the Admissions and Release Committee.Models participation in the multidisciplinary team process regarding eligibility issues, Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, consultation services and service delivery models.Perform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

? Knowledge of Kentucky Eligibility Guidelines For Students with Speech or Language Impairment

? Knowledge of ASHA certification standards

? Possess effective communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.

? Possess a high level of self-confidence balanced with a servitude leadership approach, initiative, self-direction, and motivation.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Valid State Certificate for Teaching Exceptional Children - Communication Disorders and or any combination equivalent to a master's degree in the area of speech-language pathology from an accredited program in speech-language therapy, and all other requirements set forth in KRS 334A.050. A minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
