POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mammography Technologist II performs technical activities associated with screening and diagnostic mammography procedures to obtain high quality images of the breasts. They assist radiologists in diagnostic procedures to evaluate and diagnose physiological changes in breast patterns and serve as an integral part of providing an exceptional patient care experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate mammographic and other imaging equipment/devices in accordance with organizational protocolsPosition patients, using immobilization when necessaryEvaluate radiographs for image quality, adjusting position, density, or contrast and obtaining additional images as neededEvaluate and present images to radiologists and perform additional post presentation images and/or diagnostic procedures, including ultrasound, core biopsy, and needle localizationPrepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness and adequate stock/inventory of clinical suppliesObtain, verify, and document all pertinent information for patient visits and procedures, including patient clinical history, prior imaging, orders, lab work, and authorization confirmationIdentify care requirements relative to each patient's age-specific needsExplain exams and procedures to patientsProvide post procedural care information and follow up instructions as directed radiologistsUse radiation safety measures and protective devices to comply with government regulations and ensure the safety of patients and staffAssist with onboarding and training new Mammography Technician I's and II'sOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:

Education/Licensing/Certification:

Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic TechnologyARRT certification in radiographyARRT advanced certification in mammography must be obtained within 1 year of hireBLS CPR certificationExperience (years and type):

1-3 years of Mammography experienceDiagnostic Training experience preferredKnowledge and Skills:

Computer literateAbility to read and interpret medical reports, extract pertinent information from them and present that information in a concise and appropriate mannerAnatomic knowledge of breast tissue pattern and related structures as well as breast pathology and treatment of breast pathologyKnowledge of radiographic technique and positioningKnowledge of ultrasound principals, application, and positioningExcellent communication skillsExcellent customer service, both internal and externalExcellent time management and organizational skillsTravel Required (% of time):

0-25%Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Primarily walking and standingLift up to 25lbsRole may be exposed to radiation, infectious disease, and bloodborne pathogensFloating coverage, overtime, and work outside of normal M-F business hours as needed
