Pharmacy Technician

Full-time / 40 hours per week / 2nd shift / Union

Summary:

Performs tasks related to the filling of medication orders, maintains both manual and computer based records. Prepares intravenous solutions using proper aseptic techniques, supplies controlled substances. Maintains accurate records of disposition, maintains inventories in the pharmacy storeroom and work areas. Supplies medications and stock to patient care areas and appropriately charges for items supplied.

Formal Education Required:a. High school diploma or equivalent

Experience and Training Required:a. National Pharmacy Technician Certification within 1 (one) year from date of hire.b. Licensed as a registered pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician trainee by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy at the time of hirec. Licensed as a certified pharmacy technician by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy once National Pharmacy Certification is obtained.i. Employee may not start working independently until issuance of license.

Ability to operate a computer terminal, calculator, and other office equipment; manipulate fine instruments; and prepare pharmaceutical entities in minute proportionsf. Knowledge of pharmacy lawg. Ability to read and transcribe required information from medication ordersh. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and department recordsi. Level of Physical Demands:a. Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objectsb. Standing and walking for extended periods of time; pushes, pulls, carries, and lifts light to medium loadsc. Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and sharps; risks of falls, strains, contagious diseases, cuts from broken glass, needle punctures, etc.
