Job Description:

ResponsibilitiesI. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:• Prepares and performs ultrasound examinations on patients. Collaborates with physicians on examinations.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:• Essential: walking, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking; reaching above and at shoulder level; repetitive arm/hand motions; static gripping of an object for prolonged periods; frequent gripping of an object.• Continuous: sitting, reaching below shoulder level.• Frequent: standing, stooping/bending, pushing/pulling maximum weight of 50 pounds of force.• Occasional: sitting, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, lifting and carrying weight of 10 pounds up to 20 pounds.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.• Must be able to adjust schedule for "on-call" coverage involving, but not limited to, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.• May be subjected to stressful situations when dealing with multiple and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:• Graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) approved school of Ultrasound Technology or other approved program as determined by the department; or registered Radiologic Technologist with two (2) years supervised work/training in diagnostic ultrasound.• Registered or registry candidate by ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) in Abdomen and OB/GYN sonography.• Registered by ARDMS as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) preferred.• Current BLS/HCP certification.

B. EXPERIENCE:• Prior recent experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer or Echo Ultrasound Technologist in acute health care facility preferred.• Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions.• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team.
