We are looking for an experienced Lead Pharmacy Technician. This is a full time, 40hrs/wk position, working variable shifts and is located in York, Maine. The York Hospital Pharmacy is open 365 days a year from 8:00am-9:00pm.

Responsibilities and Duties for this position include:

Performs independently with respect to all essential technician duties and responsibilities within the department.Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.Aids in the screening, selection, hiring, and orientation process for new staff.Oversees initial and ongoing training of new and existing pharmacy technicians.Helps to establish, coordinate, and maintain daily work functions; optimizes time efficiently and effectively.Resolves workplace crisis and conflict in a calm, constructive and professional manner.Assists the Director of Pharmacy with the monthly staff schedule; coordinates time off and sick calls to ensure proper staffing; delegates duties to staff to ensure a balanced workload.Oversees job performance and ensures the competency of technical staff in accordance with established standards.Places orders for medications and supplies from vendors as needed in the absence of the Pharmacy Buyer.Provide ongoing technical staff development for the department and informs all technicians of new policies and procedures.Assists with the restocking of pharmaceutical products in the automated dispensing machines and as needed elsewhere.Conducts and oversees nursing unit, pharmacy, and off-site QA inspections; ensures 100% department compliance.Performs controlled substance accountability duties that include audits, investigating, resolving, and documenting discrepancies.Accurately and aseptically compounds all IV admixture preparations in a timely manner.Ensures quality control standards are maintained in the clean room(s) in accordance with USP 797 and 800 regulations.Maintains records associated with quality control of clean room activities.Ensures a constant state of readiness for CMS, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, DHHS and other regulatory bodies.Maintains a clean, neat, and professional work area at all times.Maintains focus on medication safety; offers suggestions to improve safety based on best practice (e.g. ISMP); documents medication errors by filing required incident reports.Participates in and successfully completes mandatory education.Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.Perform in a fast-paced clinical environmentWhy York Hospital?

High School Diploma/GEDNational CPHT certification required within 1 year of hireTwo years of prior hospital experience required.
