Overview

A freestanding ER in Tyler, TX is seeking a

Laboratory Supervisor

to join their team. The Laboratory Supervisor will strive to provide proficient, competent care while maintaining the patient's sense of comfort and dignity. The potential candidate for this position will need to provide functional direction and leadership to the department that will help continue providing exceptional patient care that aligns with the company's goals. This position will consist of job duties that is admin specific and working the floor with patients. A specific schedule will be made to align with these duties to ensure competency.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director and Administrative Laboratory Director, the Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to: Creating and maintaining a patient-centered focus by engaging a positive working relationship with all patients, visitors, and staff of the facility Assisting in the assurance that laboratory consistently complies with laboratory polices/procedures; CLIA/COLA standards; and state/local regulations Adhering to proper resource allocation and coordination, ensuring maximum efficiency in using personnel and controlling departmental supply expenses Assisting in maintaining laboratory supplies and reagents as requested including taking accurate inventories, filling out purchase requisitions, receiving supplies, stocking benches, rotating stock, and proper documentation of supply receipt Following all laboratory safety policies and procedures outlined in the Laboratory Policy and Procedure Manual Providing day to day direct supervision of testing performed by Lab Technologist and Lab Assistants Performing laboratory patient testing and reporting as assigned outlines in the Laboratory Policy and Procedure Manual Monitoring test analysis and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained Ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning Assuring that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory established performance specifications Instructing patients for proper specimen collection Preparing specimens to be sent out to a reference laboratory Assisting the Laboratory Administrative Director and Technical Supervisor in daily oversight of quality assurance and quality control procedures Maintaining all laboratory instruments as indicated by the manufacturers and following manufacturer-driven troubleshooting procedures in the event of equipment failure Ensuring safety, security, and the environment in all aspects of the daily activities, and any potential safety hazards are addressed and corrected immediately Displaying knowledge of hospital laboratory practices, including infection control requirements, chemical, and biological hazards Maintaining all laboratory records and documentation per the Laboratory Policy and Procedure Manual and presenting upon request for inspection by the Medical Director or other regulatory inspectors Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties and delegated tasks Mentoring new staff and providing training, constructive feedback, and coaching Assisting with orientation and training to all testing personnel Assisting with documentation of employee competency and annual evaluations Assisting in preparation for inspections and prepares reports as needed Maintaining good communication with leadership, team members, and other departments Demonstrating proficiency in laboratory computer-related tasks Suggesting improvements to process and is a knowledgeable resource for the other team members Other duties as assigned General Responsibilities & Expectations

Maintaining HIPPA compliance and upholding utmost integrity and privacy of every patient Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection control policies and procedures Maintaining a professional appearance and good personal hygiene per company policies Adhering to the guiding principles and policies set forth by HHER Maintaining professionalism in job performance and practice Communicating needs through the proper chain of command Displaying integrity and honesty Maintaining a positive attitude towards patients, guests, visitors, and co-workers

Position Requirements

The requirements for employment with Hospitality Health ER are: Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the English language Strong communication and leadership skills and display a positive attitude and passion for Hospitality ER Flexibility and availability for on-call and any scheduling demands that are not otherwise met by the Lab staff Accessible and available to testing personnel to provide on-site, telephone or electronic consultations to resolve technical problems in accordance with established Laboratory policies and procedures Critical thinking skills; ability to work autonomously and make efficient use of time and resources Integrity and responsibility; may have access to company credit card and the company vehicle Current driver's license with no restrictions Ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and physicians Demonstrated competency of Physical Assessment within 90 days, as evaluated by supervisor Adaptability to ongoing changes Requirements: Associate degree in laboratory science OR Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biology is required. Minimum 2 years' experience or equivalent within a high complexity clinical laboratory setting. Experience with Quality Management, including strong knowledge of all laws and regulations that CLIA requires, ANSI, OSHA, Texas, and other related legislated and/or state health departments and organizations.
