Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Neurosciences Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day - 3x12 - 7am to 7pm (36 Hours per week) Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the required state Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC)- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Must-Have: - Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing Job Description: - Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting.- Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process.- Participates in identifying and meeting personal learning needs and attends education programs as required.- Utilizes patient education materials relevant to the patient population and assesses patient/family readiness to learn.- Evaluates care by identifying expected patient outcomes and seeking guidance in revising the plan of care.- Communicates relevant information to ensure continuity of care and participates in interdisciplinary team evaluations.- Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex needs, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.- Performs bedside point of care testing and utilizes healthcare organization policies and procedures in the delivery of care.- Prioritizes and organizes care according to patient and family needs, consulting with appropriate resources as needed.- Develops professional growth goals and participates in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.- Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of patients and families and develops supportive relationships.- Collaborates with patient/family to update the plan of care, addressing cultural and ethnic issues appropriately.- Participates in promoting cost-effective care and provides feedback to colleagues.- Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all.- Engages in research by reading relevant journals and discussing applicability with staff.- Expected to function in the charge role if needed, with training provided for those without previous charge experience. Schedule Notes: - The unit caters to post-operative surgical patients, including those with brain and spinal surgeries, cancer, neuro- and spinal-trauma, and stroke. ENT patients present with head and neck issues, requiring varied surgical interventions. - Clinical skills on this unit include airway management, tracheal suctioning, drains, feeding tubes, neurological and stroke assessment.- Patient ratio is 1:5.
