This is a telecommute position with 30%-50% travel for fieldwork. The ideal candidate lives in the Southeastern/Mid-Atlantic region of the country.

Summary:Provide overall project management direction on a wide variety of environmental projects, some with construction aspects. Personal initiative and critical thinking skills will be essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. The position is deadline-driven. Project managers must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently, and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment. Project managers must demonstrate innovation, excellent communication skills, and a high level of customer service.

The salary range for this position is $107,711-$157,042/year, please note this is a tiered position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)* Review and approve detailed project/component-level plans.* Manage and oversee projects, including managing the subcontracting process subcontractors' activities; prepare project technical evaluations within his/her areas of expertise; identify and recommend solutions to mitigate issues and problems encountered during various project phases, in accordance with the project scope of work, acceptable code/practices, and Federal and State regulations.* Work within and apply Federal and State environmental regulations, including RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, and 18 AAC 75 & 78.* Develop and define acceptance criteria for all project phases/key deliverables. Close monitoring of critical milestones and deliverables.* Ensure the project stays aligned with the strategic goals and delivers the planned/stated benefits.* Provide technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written project documentation.* Collaborate with various groups within Ahtna and multiple client organizations.* Identify project risks and prepare a risk response plan.* Proactive communication of risks to concerned stakeholders.* Identify and ensure the resolution of all project-level issues.* Manage all communications between internal stakeholders, clients, and third parties.* Ensure preparation of various status and progress reports with metrics for various stakeholders.* Align all project components and groups to ensure project success.* Supervise field staff and possibly tradesmen. Work closely with field team leads and site superintendents in executing a wide variety of environmental and construction activities, overseeing and conducting field quality control functions with field QC staff.* Foster a high-performance team environment where diversity is valued and people are treated with respect and dignity. Apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.* Mentor junior staff.* Ensure compliance with all quality, regulatory, and security processes.* Prepare and review proposals per RFP and bid documents, including estimating and bid reviews.* Apply and review bid estimates for price build-ups such as labor fringe, overhead, G&A, and profit.* Prepare and/or review contract deliverables including, but not limited to, product or technical submittals, work plans, site safety and health plans, environmental protection plans, sampling and analysis plans in UFP-QAPP format, and reports. Incorporate aspects from Federal and State environmental guidance in the preparation of project deliverables.* Support field staff as necessary.* Other duties as assigned by management

Level Specific Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)

Level - II* Provide client assistance to program managers; Manage scope, schedule, and budget on medium-sized projects* Maintain 2 (two) areas of technical expertise* Lead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents* Prepare medium-sized task orders and project proposals* Project staffing and technical mentoring

Level - Senior* Business development assistance to program managers; Manage scope, schedule, and budget on large-sized projects* Maintain 2-3 areas of technical expertise* Lead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project documents* Prepare task orders and project proposals* Project staffing and technical mentoring

Minimum Qualifications:All levels:* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physical/Environmental Sciences* Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record, able to drive a company vehicle* Experience with Federal and State contracting* Ability to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g., DOD, DHS, FAA, etc.) to obtain security access badges* Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook* Adept at explaining technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients verbally and in writing

Level - II* Three (3) to Five (5) years of project management experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Level - Senior* Five (5) to Seven (7) years of project management experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Preferred Qualifications:* Proficiency in Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software* Experience writing UFP-QAPPS for USACE, AFCEC, and other Federal entities* GIS Software* Professional Registration such as PE, PG, or PMP* Experience with emerging contaminants, such as PFAS* Experience in the eastern and/or southeastern US geographic region* Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures

Working Environment:* Generally, indoors. While outdoors, may be subject to construction site conditions, confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels.

Physical Demands (including but not limited to):* Frequent sitting for prolonged periods, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, reaching with hands and arms for items above and below desk level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place.* While in the field, reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials* Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment.* Moderate travel required to shareholder communities, subsidiary offices, and other project locations as needed.
