Microbiology Manager
to join our team based in
Aurora, CO
with oversight of four locations in the U.S. and Canada .
You will be responsible for key areas that include analysis of microbiological results by tracking, documenting, and reviewing trends related to the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP), and communicating this data to stakeholders. The position provides technical support to sanitation, QA analytical lab, maintenance, engineering, and other departments as needed for the participation of the food safety requirements in company's EMP program
The hired candidate can expect to make between $90,000 to $100,000 annually. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESManages the environmental monitoring program including ATP, air sampling, water testing, indicator and pathogen swabbing program.Manages the food safety plan in compliance with regulatory, customer, and other guidelines.Reports all non-conformance results to leadership and other teams with a sense of urgency.Establish monitoring sites for the EMP program, identify harborage sites, conduct root-cause investigationsTrack/trend EMP dataSupports all continuous improvement projects associated with QA departmental goals.Assists sister facilities on establishing EMP program and tracking/trending of micro programs.Trains and monitors employees regarding GMPs, aseptic sampling and swabbing techniques, testing methodologies, equipment calibration and maintenance.Collaborates with facilities, maintenance, and sanitation teams in CAPA on EMP action itemsConducts internal auditing on sanitation policies and procedures.Works with sanitation chemical supplier on employee training and identifying areas to improve in cleaning practices.Writes/revises SOPs, policies, and procedures on microbiological programs.Oversees the 3rd party lab testing on validation studies, shelf-life studies on new and existing products.Maintains lab files, lab log spreadsheets, Certificates of Analysis, and Certificate of Quality LettersMaintains a Microbiological Testing Registry to identify what microbiological analysis is required for each finished product for both Tower and Pembroke location.Ensures that facilities are maintained, and all duties are performed in compliance with all applicable food safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Food Science or microbiology discipline3-years of experience in a food safety, laboratory, or manufacturing environment with emphasis on microbiological testing, and analysis.Ability/willingness to travel up to 25% - 50% of the time within the U.S. and CanadaExperience in supervising and training a wide array of employeesProficient language skills in English and SpanishProficient in writing and communicating reports to Senior Leadership team.Proficient in EMP program, understanding of microbiology, sanitation practices, and production processesStrong working knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations, GMPs, GFSI Audits, SSOPs, SOPsPCQI Certification or If the individual selected for the Position is not certified, both certifications must be completed within 4-months after the date of hire.Experience in food manufacturing facilityExperience in Hygiene design
