Overview
Cares for patients, prepare and compiles records, and process orders in the hospital setting under direction of nursing staff, by performing the following duties, supporting the nursing philosophy. May include weekends, holidays, day, evening, night and or on-call hours.Roscoe, IL24 Hours/2 Weeks
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides patient care as assigned and per routine, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate mannerDocuments care provided according to standardsMaintains a clean work and patient environmentMaintains and orders supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies for MHTC and Mercy North.Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner. Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff.Directs visitors to patients rooms. Maintains medical records of current patients. Processes patient charges and orders supplies as needed.Floats to various units based on identified needsParticipates in department or unit performance improvement activities.Performs 12 Lead EKGs as directedStarts IV as directedPerforms venipunctures as directedAssists ED MDs with intubation by gathering needed equipmentPerforms CPR and places patient on Lucas during resuscitationsAssist with splint applications by gathering needed suppliesAssist with chest tube Mend CVP insertions by gathering needed supplies equipmentPerforms BGs as directedTransports non-monitored patients to the inpatient unitsEducation and Experience
Certified as a Nursing Assistant in applicable state with 2 years healthcare experience orMedical Assistant with 2 years of healthcare experience orLicensed as an EMT in applicable state with 2 years of healthcare experience orLicensed as a Paramedic in applicable state with 1 year of healthcare experienceCertification/Licensure
Certified as a Nursing Assistant in applicable state, orCertified as a Medical Assistant in applicable state, orLicensed as an EMT in applicable state, orLicensed as a Paramedic in applicable stateApproved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days . Other certifications per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, NALSSpecial Physical Demands
The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
