Community Paramedic Role Description
Community Paramedics are delivering the future of healthcare by providing the right care, at the right time, in the right place. Providing an option for on-demand, in-home physician supported care, our innovative SmartCare division is improving patient outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction, and reducing the number of hospital admissions and re-admissions through community paramedicine.
Community Paramedics provide the highest levels of clinic assessment and treatment with an expanded scope of care. Patients are treated directly in their homes to reduce the need for ambulance transportation and hospital stays. Due to the nature of care needed, SmartCare professionals work as an extension of the patient's medical team and may work closely with the same set of patients and their families. SmartCare Paramedic ResponsibilitiesDeliver quality patient care in accordance with clinical policies, statewide protocol, and standards of careAttend to patients in a courteous and professional mannerMonitor remote patient tracking and respond as appropriateParticipate in discharge planning of SmartCare patientsComplete initial in-home assessments and on-going home visits as appropriate for all patients enrolled in SmartCare programCommunicate effectively with EMS agencies, physicians, and other healthcare providersCommunity Paramedic Job Requirements
Fully state certified as an EMT-PCertifications in Advanced and Basic Life SupportValid driver's license and an acceptable driving record through a DMV background check2 years minimum experience as a ParamedicBe in good clinical standingPossess strong customer service and communication skillsBe able to work independently and be able to function as part of a care planning teamPass a background check including CORIPass a drug screen and lift testCommitment to providing exemplary customer serviceAdvanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) and either Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) are preferredThe successful completion of the Community Health Paramedicine Training Program within 6 months of hire or at the first course offeringCommunity Paramedic Physical Requirements

Cataldo is the largest private EMS provider and private ambulance service in Massachusetts. In addition to topping 50,000 emergency medical transportations annually through 911 contacts with multiple cities, we partner with some of Massachusetts top medical facilities to provide non-emergency medical ambulance and wheelchair transportation services. We are also an EMS provider to specialty venues like Fenway Park, Warrior Arena, and TD Garden.
While Cataldo began as an ambulance service company, we continue to grow through innovation and expand the services we offer to the local communities. As a public health resource, Cataldo offers training and education to the healthcare and emergency medical community through the Cataldo Education Center. This includes certification training for new employees as well as the training needed for career advancement. Through our partnerships with health systems, hospitals, managed care organizations, and others, we continue to provide in-home care through the state's first and largest Mobile Integrated Health program, SmartCare. We also have delivered more than 1.7 million Covid-19 vaccines and continue to operate testing and vaccination sites throughout the state of Massachusetts.
