Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the

Program Director

is responsible for providing Cause-driven leadership to Camp Cristina Afterschool Program and has a primary impact in the overall success and effectiveness of YMCA Camp Cristina, helping the program to achieve its goals and objectives.

As part of the Camp Cristina Leadership team, the individual in this position is responsible for the overall operations management of the Before & After School program. They will collaborate with the Associate/Executive Directors to help deliver the best in consistent programming across all product lines. As a member of the leadership team the Afterschool Program Director will serve as an ambassador for all Camp Cristina's programs helping the YMCA link families to the services and programs at Camp Cristina and across the Association. The Program Director serves as a role model for staff and youth and will build a positive relationship between the afterschool staff and the parents we serve. The Program Director will help nurture the self-esteem, confidence, and core values of each participant.

Critical areas of expertise include, but not limited to leading others and working in teams, highly organized, delivering and managing robust programs focusing on quality, proven results in growth in programs, successfully overseeing part-time and entry-level teams and interviewing, hiring, and onboarding associates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Before And After School (approximately 60% of time allocation)Develops and maintains Before & Afterschool program budget for YMCA Camp Cristina.Develops and implements department budgets so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Including revenue generation, expense, and payroll controls.Monitors monthly budget and progress/variance.Responsible for creating a best-in-class customer (Parent) experience that increases program retention and stimulates program growth.Develops and maintains a system of regular communication with customers (Parents) that allows Camp Cristina to listen to and learn from program users' experience of our afterschool program.Develops and executes an afterschool program curriculum that provides an inclusive experience that creates lifelong memories in an environment that awakens the imagination, inspires dreams, and provides a sense of achievement and belonging.Develops and maintains regular communication and relationships with school principals and school representatives.Implements established Program Quality Standards and participates in the development of these standards.Responsible for daily supervision of counselors in the afterschool program.Recruits, supervises, hires, and provides progressive discipline to the staff within the afterschool program.Creates an environment that allows staff to provide a safe, welcoming environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging and can reach their maximum potential.Develops and monitors staff training plan with the HR Department, Associate/Executive Director.Attends all required departmental meetings including monthly Youth Development Operations Team meetings.Monitors and effectively controls the bi-weekly payroll.Assists with implementation of YMCA Orientation and Child Abuse Prevention training.Assists with curriculum development and implementation.Assists with the operations of the Summer Camp Program where possible.Any additional responsibilities established by Supervisor.Assists in all areas, project teams, job tasks as assigned.Attends all conferences, trainings, meetings, and presentations as assigned.Youth and Family Programming (approximately 20% of time allocation)

Provides direct leadership and supervision of Parents Night Out, Kids Day Out, and other family-based programs at Camp Cristina. Leads associate team in creating fun, adventure filled, memorable experiences for members and their children.Designs, operates, & supervises all center family activities and classes, Parents' Night Out and launch and operate Afterschool Parents night Out quarterly as a revenue generating event. Assist the Sports and Retreat Center Program Director with birthday parties and assist with other activities/center events that benefit and add value to Y memberships, where appropriate. Responsible for creating connection points with families to increase participation and drive a superior member experience.Summer Camp Program (approximately 20% of time allocation)

Provides program support and leadership for the Summer Camp Program. Works with the Associate Executive Director to provide administrative and program support for the Summer Camp Program.Attends Camp Delivery team meetings and assists in the planning of camp to ensure a smooth transition into and out of the summer camp season.Safety and Risk Management

Ensures all Tampa Y program standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations, and child abuse prevention.Ensures all program associates are professionally trained and prepared for emergency situations. This includes implementing and following training requirements in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures.Maintains proper records, including associate certifications, meetings, and training.Schedules associates and volunteers in accordance with safety and program needs and ensures all safety and program ratios are followed.Monitors programming to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health & safety regulations.Additional medication training may be required, including the implementation of administering medicine such as epi-pens, inhalers, shots/injections for diabetes etc.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in education, Psychology, Sociology, and Child Development or experience as an Afterschool supervisor while actively working on a degree in a related field.Proven experience meeting registration and attendance goals required.Experience working with budgets, developing a budget, fiscal management of programs.YMCA management experience desirable.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound fiscal management practices, strong organizational abilities, and problem-solving strategies.Ability to adequately observe program activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures.Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred.Reliable transportation required. Must be willing and able to travel between sites and administrative offices on a regular basis.Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in BLS, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration.Maintain other required certifications as stated in the training matrix.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee needs sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and authorized work phone/smart device.Ability to instruct and observe participants during program activities.The employee frequently is required to see, observe, and hear all participants, and make sound judgments and decisions.Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including, but not limited to, leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.Ability to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.Hear noises and distress signals in the program environment, including in the classroom and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.Must have flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.Ability to lift and move a minimum of thirty pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness, heat and cold.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.This position requires reliable transportation and a willingness to travel, if needed.This position may require availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Must be able to perform the same duties as those they supervise.
