Qualifications and Requirements

:Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.Experience: 2 yearsLicensure/Certifications: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of ColumbiaMust be a US Citizen;Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.Procedures:

I+D of scrotal abscess, prostate biopsies, cystoscopes, circumcision/dorsal slit, vasectomy, TURP, TUR BT, cysto laser lithotripsy with stone extraction and stent placement, Hydrocelectomy, varicocelectomy, Excision of penile cancers, surgical treatment for condylomas, nephrectomy, ureteroscopy, lithotripsy, orchiectomy, urethral dilatation, treatment for Gross hematuria and other procedures under GU. .Duties & Responsibilities:The Staff Urologist is administratively and clinically responsible to the Chief, Urology Section. The physician functions within an interdisciplinary staff consisting of physicians, physician extenders, technicians, administrative and clerical staff. Duties include but may not be limited to:

Provides quality patient care to both inpatients and outpatients in accordance with approved clinical privileges.Participates in multidisciplinary activities involving the treatment plan and discharge plan of patients.Exhibits leadership in initiating change in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from evidence-based research and studies. Keeps informed of developments in management and treatment of diseases and illness through continuing medical education, both formal and informal.Successfully integrates patient care activities on the Surgical Services with other patient care programs at the Medical Center.Serves as staff attending for patients on the Surgical Service, who are either outpatient or inpatients, or see in consultation.Provides guidance and clinical supervision for the nurse practitioners, physician assistants and health technicians assigned to the Surgical Service when appropriate.Provides guidance and supervision for the medical students and residents assigned to the Surgical Service in accordance to the Medical Center policy.Participates and attends Medical Center committee meetings as assigned by the Chief, Surgical Service.Assists in the development , implementation and provides input on staff assigned in their area.Participates in various facility programs designed to enhance and improve the delivery of patient care services to include but not limited to Process Action Teams, Root Cause Analysis and Peer Reviews.Position will supervise medical students, residents, or fellows, board certification is requiredOther duties as assigned.
