About the JobPositioned at the core of one of the country's foremost children's hospitals, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's (CHOP's) rapidly growing general pediatric hospitalist program offers tremendous depth and breadth of clinical activities.The section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) at CHOP is recruiting faculty at all experience levels to join our growing group of over 125 faculty. Full-time, part-time, and nocturnist positions are available. We do not require PHM board certification. Our section offers numerous clinical activities including attending-only general pediatric teams, surgical co-management, behavioral health co-management, complex care, and/or sedation services. Our hospitalists have the opportunity to work at our main Philadelphia campus as well as our community site in King of Prussia.In addition to robust clinical exposure, the section of PHM offers many unique faculty development programs such as a formal mentoring program for early career hospitalists and weekly attending-only education conferences on a variety of topics. Our education curriculum includes M,M,& I, quality improvement, complex care didactics, and clinical case conferences.
What you will doDirect Clinical Activities
Provide direct patient care to hospitalized childrenDiagnose and treat common inpatient pediatric conditionsComplete thorough and timely medical documentation in the EHR (Epic)Triage urgent changes in patient's clinical status and utilize rapid response team or pediatric code team when necessaryProvide general pediatric consultation to other services including surgeryMay supervise clinical providers including medical students, resident physicians Advanced Practice Providers and provide performance feedback in all aspects of clinical functions
Educational Activities (if indicated)
May provide support and leadership for resident/medical student/Advanced Practice Provider education curriculum and program implementation
Research Activities (if indicated)
May participate in scholarship activities within the Section of Hospital Medicine. These include but are not limited to:o Quality improvement projects, including clinical pathway design committeeso Research projects in PHM
Administrative Activities (if indicated)Other Duties as Assigned.
EducationDoctorate Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine Required
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of hospital policies, practices and protocols as well as applicable regulations and guidelines. Knowledge of computer systems and applicationsSkills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, decision-makingSkill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the publicExcellent verbal and written communications skills
To carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community. In keeping with this, CHOP has mandated all workforce members on site at any CHOP location for any portion of their time be vaccinated for COVID-19. This mandate also applies to workforce members performing work for CHOP at non-CHOP locations. The CHOP COVID-19 vaccine mandate is in alignment with applicable local, state and federal mandates.
CHOP also requires all workforce members who work in patient care buildings or who provide patient care to receive an annual influenza vaccine. Employees may request exemption consideration for CHOP vaccine requirements for valid religious and medical reasons.
Please note start dates may be delayed until candidates are fully immunized or valid exemption requests are reviewed. In addition, candidates other than those in positions with regularly scheduled hours in New Jersey, must attest to not using tobacco products.
