Job Summary:
We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist to perform and report various analyses on multiple specimen sources while meeting qualifications to care for patients in specific age ranges. This is a rotation-based, part-time position that works under the GLH Laboratory Team in Lewistown, Pennsylvania.Job Duties:Obtain accurate results by following established proceduresMaintain an expected level of productivityManage multiple work processes efficientlyComplete tasks in a timely mannerHandle specimens properlyConfirm identification and specimen suitability using appropriate accessioning proceduresRecognize discrepancies on patient orders and report issues as neededPerform and record instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality controlReplenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols and reporting proceduresNavigate and access multiple computer applications as needed for job functionalityAssist in training and orientation of new employeesParticipate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in field and complete competency examsWork is typically performed in a laboratory or office environment. Additional competencies required for job function related to a specific position will be outlined during department-specific orientation.Position Details:Medical Laboratory Scientist:Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program OR;Bachelor of Science degree with major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification OR;Bachelor of Science degree with major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least 2 years experience in role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in clinical laboratoryHEWMedical Laboratory Technician:Associate degree in laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)Military experience will be considered.Geisinger offers full-time and part-time employees comprehensive benefits starting day one, including health insurance with 3 plan choices, a flexible spending account, health savings account, and paid life, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurance.
