POSITION SUMMARY:
The Allergist/Immunologist at the Addabbo Family Health Center is responsible to the Medical Director of the program. Canddiate is responsible for providing diagnosis and treatment to patients with allergic and immunological disorders. The Allergist is responsible to perform clinical evaluation of allergies in patients for appropriate treatments and provide care to patients suffering from common allergic reactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide allergy or immunology consultationPrescribe medication such as antihistamines, antibiotics, and nasal, oral, topical, or inhaled glucocorticosteroids.Order or perform diagnostic tests such as skin pricks and intradermal, patch, or delayed hypersensitivity testsEducate patients about diagnoses, prognoses, or treatments.Interpret diagnostic test results to make appropriate differential diagnoses.Develop individualized treatment plans for patients, considering patient preferences, clinical data, or the risks and benefits of therapies.Coordinate the care of patients with other health care professionals or support staff.Assess the risks and benefits of therapies for allergic and immunologic disorders.Provide therapies, such as allergen immunotherapy and immunoglobin therapy, to treat immune conditions.Perform allergen provocation tests such as nasal, conjunctival, bronchial, oral, food, and medication challenges.Diagnose or treat allergic or immunologic conditionsThe Allergist is expected to participate in Continuing Professional Education programs to provide 50 CME credits every 2 years.The Allergist will be required to participate in other Health Center related tasks as directed by the Medical Director. These may include but not limited to Quality Assurance, Patient Education in the Community, Completion of Survey, etc.To follow the guides as provided in the Policy and Procedures Manual for Internal Medicine.This job specification should not be construed to imply that these requirements are the exclusive standards of the position. Graduate of an approved medical schoolMedical Licensure to practice medicine in New York StateSuccessful completion of fellowship in Allergy/ImmunologyCredential approved by the credentialing CommitteeBLSStrong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Good communication and interpersonal skills.
