Job Description/Summary:

Nuclear Medicine Technologist II performs diagnostic imaging procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instrumentation. Prepares and administers radioactive chemical compounds known as radiopharmaceuticals. Knowledgeable in IV placement to avoid extravasations of radiopharmaceuticals. Performs computer processing and image enhancement. Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation. Provides excellent patient care. Demonstrates excellent customer service.

Minimum Training and Education :Graduate of an approved and accredited A.R.R.T. program. Graduate of an approved and accredited nuclear medicine program 3-5 years of experience in NM preferred. Skills include demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment and current dynamic health care climate. Demonstrates the ability to plan, design, implement and evaluate one's own work and to work independently with minimal observation or supervision. Human relation skills include the demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively and to work collaboratively with multiple coworkers of diverse cultures, educational backgrounds, and experience. Political process skills include the ability to build partnerships with physicians and others. Must possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when minimal to no directions are given. Requires good interpersonal skills. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines. Position may require some overtime, on call responsibilities, and ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress. Must be able to follow instructions and document care given. Must possess the ability to plan and organize.

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB recognized Nuclear Medicine Program required. Work Experience: 0-2 years in Radiologic experienceMust be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) from the NMTCB or Registered Technologist (RT (N)) from ARRT or registry eligible. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
