OverviewWorks under the supervision of the Manager and Physician to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. The RN utilizes the nursing process to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Demonstrates effective communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills in all aspects of job performance.

What you will do

Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical ands psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served in Radiosurgery (see unit specific competencies and equipment checklists).Partners with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial and procedure treatment outcomes of the patient. Assesses and incorporates evidence-based standards of practice.Assists in the procedure as directed by physician, including assistance with head ring placement. Nursing care and monitoring of patient during procedure. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in care coordination to include diagnostic test results prior to procedure. Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of plan of care.Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care. Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer's needs to include current evidence based practice and quality measures.Demonstrates understanding of diverse needs of patient care populations and ability to modify education method to ensure patient/family comprehension. Educates prior to and after procedure by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver. Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents.Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need.Qualifications

Education

Associates Degree, Professional Nursing (Required)Bachelors Degree, Professional Nursing (Preferred)Experience

2 years RN experience in minimally invasive procedures (Preferred)Licenses and Certifications

Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)Oncology Certified Nurse (Preferred)
