The newly created Perioperative NP team is expanding and adding additional NPs to our team.
The Nurse Practitioner in Cardiac Perioperative Anesthesia will be responsible for:
Collaborating with the perioperative and anesthesia teams to provide comprehensive care to patients preop/intraop/postoperatively in the main OR and other anesthetizing locations.Conducting patient/family interviews and documenting patient medical history, review of systems, physical exam in the preanesthetic evaluation.Communicating the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of anesthesia to patients and familiesOffering expertise as consultant and educator to peri-operative nursing staffParticipating in or leading the collection of data for anesthesia cancelations, criteria changes, and improvement processesOrdering, scheduling, and/or performing laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures such as urinalyses, pregnancy, blood tests, and x-raysFunctions as a liaison between the anesthesia attending in charge, primary anesthesia, nursing team, and family to optimize patient carePrescribing and administering premedication prior to anesthesiaAssisting the anesthesia team in procedural areasOpportunities exist to become competent in Vascular Access and PICC line placement20hrs - 10hr shifts
To qualify, you must have:
A Master of Science in Nursing and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse PractitionerMA licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse5 years of nursing experience in pediatrics (inpatient or outpatient) is preferred
Sign-on bonus of $2,500.00 (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
