To be a successful dentist in our health center, you should be caring, communicative, and experienced in diagnosing and treating dental ailments. This position will play a key role in providing quality dental care in our fast-growing primary and integrated care facilities. The dentist should also be skilled with the various tools and procedures needed to correct dental complaints and ensure the oral health of patients.

The prime focus will be meeting with patients, examining, and assessing their dental health, perform scheduled cleanings, handle complex procedures and carrying out the treatment plan in a competent and efficient manner, such as fillings, root canals, and extractions. This position will also work with other staff members, such as dental hygienists and assistants, to provide our patients with high quality dental services. CHN's Dentists should be able to provide a comprehensive range of services to our patients and assist in the management of the practice and promote a collaboration of interprofessional continuum of care to our growing patient population.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Meeting with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, perform routine exams and other preventative procedures, and establish a plan for better oral healthPerforming dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and filling of cavitiesApplying helpful agents to teeth, such as sealants or whitenersDesign and fit dental prosthetics, such as bridges, crowns and denturesPrescribing medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics.Giving clients sedatives or anesthesia prior to administering treatment.Ordering diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc.Using tools, such as drills, probes, brushes, or mirrors, to examine and treat teeth and mouthKeeping records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to themManaging and communicating with other staff members to provide care to patientsExamines individuals requesting care, diagnoses dental/oral conditions, prescribes, and carries out, or directs others in carrying out appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelinesRecords patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. In addition, the Dentist shall complete referrals, data collection instruments and other records or paperwork as required by CHNEducates individuals in oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease preventionRequired Skills/Abilities:

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from a dental education program accredited by the Commission on Dental AccreditationLicensed by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners as a general dentistPossess a National Board Dental Examination license for general dentistryDEAMust be eligible for Medicare/Medicaid provider participation at the time of hire and while employed with CHNPreferred Education and Experience:
