The Assistant Nursery Manager will support the Nursery Manager in all operational duties related to the success of the department including but not limited to the customer experience, movement of inventory and the coordination of daily team tasks. Main functions will include the maintenance, quality and vitality of nursery products as well as the movement of products as needed for specialized product displays. Ensure team members complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to company policies and procedures including proper plant care techniques, watering methods and safe working practices. Specialized product knowledge related to trees, shrubs and other nursery items is needed to ensure customers receive the highest level of customer service regarding all questions and inquires.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide high levels of customer service by routinely engaging customers in response to their questions and inquires

Offer specialized product knowledge across all nursery subcategories to both customers and associates in order to expand the transfer of knowledge within the department

Maintain the quality health and vitality of live products in accordance with company standards and communicate inventory needs to Department Manager on a routine basis

Maintain working knowledge of department related policies and procedures as they pertain to documentation and communicate to all department associates, correct store policies as they pertain to pricing, signage, and employee conduct

Support the Department Manager in the execution and evaluation of department specific projects including display creations and floor moves as well as offering informed recommendations with regard to the replenishment of nursery products

Support department associates in the movement of nursery related inventory product through the loading and unloading of daily trucks

Provide regular training to new and existing employees on department related activities as assigned by store management

Support the Department Manager in the development and creation of weekly schedules

Assist the Department Manager will all other related tasks as assigned

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Horticultural Sciences and demonstrated progressive responsibility in retail store operations with work or personal experience in the horticultural or gardening fields required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite preferred. Demonstrated customer service skillsWORK ENVIRONMENT
