The Food & Beverage Director is responsible for the Department operations and working with the General Manager/COO, Leadership Team and direct reports to coordinate all aspects of the Food and Beverage department at the Facility. Our successful Food & Beverage Director will be an energetic, visible, interactive, proactive and accessible leader for staff and members alike and be responsible for consistently delivering an exceptional dining and event experience to all members, non-members, and guests. This is a full time, salaried exempt position eligible for 100% employer paid benefits. The position requires a variety of shift availability including days, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Compensation, that includes a lucrative bonus program, is based on experience and credentials.Who We Are:
The Villages of Kiln Creek Owners Association is a 3,000 home community which owns the Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort and NEST Kitchen and Taphouse. We are located in the Kiln Creek neighborhood in Newport News, Virginia. NEST Kitchen and Taphouse is a multi-layered, multi-million-dollar food and beverage operation. In addition to the daily dining outlets we also host a full array of catered events.Education and/or Experience:
Degree in Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts OR comparable years of relevant experience in industry
Club, Resort or Hotel experience is a plus

Job Duties:
Operations:
Responsible for long-range planning for the department in alignment with the club's strategic plan
Coordinates the menu items, wine lists, pricing, and menu designs for all outlets, special events and banquet events with Executive Chef, Restaurant Manager, Director of Sales/Catering, and GM/COO
Consults daily with the Executive Chef, Restaurant Manager, Director of Sales Catering and other club administrators to help assure the highest level of member satisfaction at a high value and minimal cost
Greets guests and oversees actual service on a frequent and ongoing basis
Addresses member and guest complaints and advises the General Manager/COO about appropriate corrective actions taken
Ensures that an accurate reservation system is in place
Monitors the appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all food and beverage equipment and facilities
Monitors or manages monthly physical inventory and verification, in addition to quarterly chinaware, glass and silverware inventories
Researches and evaluates new products and establishes and maintains professional business relations with vendors
Completes other appropriate assignments from the General Manager/COO
Events:
Helps plan and approve external and internal communications for special club activities/events
Approves all entertainment and maintains records of special events, house counts, food covers and daily business volumes
Ensure timely correspondence with all catering guests including inquiry, follow-up, contracts, billings and thank-you letters
Compliance:
Assures that all applicable club policies and procedures are followed and updated, and maintains all written standards and procedures for the department, as needed
Ensures all legal requirements are consistently followed, including wage/ hour and federal, state or local laws for food safety and the sale/consumption of alcoholic beverages
Establishes and enforces all safety policies and procedures including OSHA regulations and ensures that appropriate proof of training is documented to the employees' personnel files
Implements and monitors sanitation and cleaning schedules
Ensures all energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards are consistently met
Monitors purchasing and receiving procedures to ensure proper quantity, quality and price for all purchases
Financial/Purchasing:
Responsible for proper payment procedures, guest check analysis, ticket controls and daily sales reports and analysis
Responsible for the proper accounting and reconciliation of the point-of-sale and member revenues
Approves all invoices before submitting to the Accounting Department for payment
Develops an operating budget for the department, monitors and modifies as necessary to help assure that budgeted revenues and cost goals are managed and promptly adjusted, as needed
Recommends an annual capital budget for all necessary food and beverage equipment and recommends facility renovation needs
Works with the Corporate Controller to identify and develop operating reports and ongoing controls within the department
Audits and approves bi-weekly timecards for payroll processing
Monitors employee records to minimize overtime and keep labor costs within budget
Supervision:
Responsible for recruitment, training, supervision and termination of Food and Beverage staff
Manages the department's long-range staffing needs and sets goals with the team and General Manager/COO
Assures that effective orientation, safety instructions and training for new staff and professional development activities for experienced staff are planned and implemented
Monitors and enforces employee dress codes according to policies and procedures
Licenses and Special Requirements Preferred:
Food safety certification
Alcoholic beverage certification
CPR & AED certification
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach. Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
Continuous repetitive motions. Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.
